No period , 8 months post partum??

Hi

So my little boy is now 8 months old and my partner and I are keen to try for another baby in the next couple of months.

However my period still hasn't come back and I'm rather worried. He has been bottle fed since 2 weeks old so I know this is unusual. I've had no spotting, cramps, no indication of anything.

I've had blood/hormone tests at the doctors and they said my bloods came back normal and it shows that for all intents and purposes I'm healthy. They're contacting gynaecology to see if I need to be checked more thoroughly.

Just worrying as I thought my oeriod would be back by now and we're desperate to give our baby boy a sibling ;(

Has this ever happened to anyone? X

Could you be pregnant?

PritiPatelsMaker · 26/06/2022 08:45

Could you be pregnant?

That was my first thought too.

I didn't get my period for months afterwards, ds was bottle fed after 6 weeks too.

No I'm not pregnant. We are using protection (condoms) and I took 2 tests to be sure and both negative x

Mine didn't come back after DD3 and I was found to have an (mildly) underactive thyroid. Do you know what the exact results of your tests were? Just being at the lower end of normal can be enough to affect your body

Twdfn123 · 26/06/2022 09:51

Did they never come back? I'm so worried as we're desperate for DC2.

Doctor said all my bloods and hormones were normal. They said I had like 0.0002 higher testosterone levels but it would be nowhere near enough to affect periods. He's asking gynaecology to see if I need to be checked. I never thought I'd be so desperate for a period x

They came back once I started on a low dose of levothyroxine. I've been on the same dose ever since but have yearly blood tests to make sure it's right.

Can I just ask why you're using condone if you're desperate for another baby?

This just might be me being thick and not seeing the obvious.

quiteathome · 26/06/2022 14:43

I got pregnant after number one without having a period. So I was period free for years.

(17 month gap, oldest was still being breastfed)

littlefirecar · 26/06/2022 14:48

following as I'm in a similar position but at 10 months with no period and its starting to get concerning :/

I'm not thinking about another baby just yet but I want to know that option ia still available for when I'm ready

hennaoj · 26/06/2022 14:52

Are you breastfeeding? It tends to stop your periods.

Twdfn123 · 26/06/2022 14:59

No my post said I'm bottle feeding

We want another baby just not at this very moment. We just want to know we can.

This is exactly me, I take it you are bottle feeding too? It does get concerning when most people say bottle feeders get theirs back in a few weeks.

Hopefully we'll get them back soon. It's the not knowing that gets to me :/ x

I'm more on about bottle feeders as I know breast feeding stops periods but that doesn't apply to me x

Mine still weren't back after 5 months (bottle fed baby) so gpput me on the pill to regulate. Periods started back within a month.
Could be worth mentioning to go?

Twdfn123 · 27/06/2022 15:22

Thanks, I'm just waiting to hear back from gynaecology to see if they'll see me
