Has anyone had prolapse repair fail? I’m devastated!!

I had a hysterectomy due to prolapse and endometriosis in February. It was brilliant, no mor stress incontinence; I had started exercise again and felt so happy and excited to have my new life. All my bits were back in place, everything was great.
Ive been rather unwell with influenza, and coughing violently. I’ve wet myself several times. Yesterday in the shower… it’s back, the prolapse is back. I’m pissing myself. I’m only 42. Healthy and slim, but suddenly incontinent.
I am absolutely devastated. I will of
course ring the specialist on Monday, but has anyone else needed this done twice?! It’s quite likely im going to have to cough again at some point in my life! Has anyone has this fixed and had it last?

I was on strict rest for 12 weeks, followed to the letter!! Continence completely fixed. I’m now constantly leaking.

I'm so sorry to hear that!
No advice but I've got a procedure tomorrow (colposuspension) for stress incontinence and they say it can fail but you never want to think about it!!

I hope it works out better for you! 🤞🏻 The brief time it worked was so brilliant and made me so happy, so I hope you feel that too (and I can again).

I’m a similar age to you, had bowel & bladder prolapse repair 6 years ago and I do Pilates every week. I’ve since got a minor bladder prolapse return and I do experience leakage even with doing my pelvic floor exercises. I remember them saying at time of operation that first fix is best fix but it’s no guarantee and can come back.

They did say about 20% of people need it done again, but I thought that would maybe be from say heavy lifting and last longer than 4 months.I’m definitely going to get into the Pilates, it’s such an annoying thing, isn’t it? Leakage, not Pilates.

Don't despair! I would not jump to any conclusions yet, if this is a result of flu and a bad cough. Give it a week or two and then seek help if everything's recurred under normal circumstances. I had a repair 20 years ago and the symptoms do sometimes recur but then go away again sometimes without any particular logic.
