Flight cancellations- how much notice?

If a flight leaving tomorrow evening (domestic) was going to be cancelled would they have done it by now??

Generally how last minute can the cancellations be?

Planned cancellations are normally more than 14 days before departure so they don’t have to pay you compensation. On the day cancellations are traditionally technical issues or crew sickness or weather related although some airlines have been cancelling last minute recently with staff shortages or not giving a reason. It’s unlikely but not impossible.

DH flew to the USA a few weeks ago. His 1pm flight was cancelled at midnight the previous day, so 13 hours in advance.

Unfortunately I've heard of some flights being cancelled while everyone is sitting on the tarmac. Anecdotes only though.

There have been a few at the gate cancellations. I’m looking at you Aer Lingus.

5am cancellation for a flight due to take off at 10am. Easyjet.

KarrotKake · 25/06/2022 21:27

Even without the shitshow that is currently going on, flights get cancelled.
DH has got as far as check in. I've got as far as sitting for 3 hours on the tarmac before disembarking.
Hopefully the fact they haven't canceled yet means it will go, but there are no guarantees.

My flight with easyJet a couple of weeks ago was cancelled while I was queueing at the bag drop

Whatwouldnanado · 26/06/2022 10:14

Same here with Easyjet. Message came as we were about to check in.

Have a look at some of the Tui and jet2 groups on Facebook. People have had their flights cancelled whilst they’re literally sitting on the plane waiting to take off. I hope you don’t have a cancellation but things are really awful at the moment.

So did the flight go OK, OP? Curious.

hanahsaunt · 26/06/2022 12:13

Ds1 had his flight cancelled last week after arriving at the airport.

LucyLatimer · 26/06/2022 12:15
