What to bring to BBQ party

I need some ideas please. I've been invited to my boss' BBQ party this afternoon. They're providing the usual chicken, sausages etc. - invitation said food / drink contributions would be appreciated.

I was hoping expecting it to be rained off so haven't made anything and haven't really got time now. So I'd welcome ideas of what I can buy in the supermarket en route that's a bit more exciting than crisps and dips but needs no prep.

Buy some cubed cherry tomatoes and mozzeralla balls along with pesto dressing, cocktail sticks and a foil platter. Spike a cherry tomato and mozzeralla ball onto a stick with maybe a basil leaf. Can be done in car in carpark. (Not idea but needs must) Drizzle over dressing when you arrive

Mix together cubed watermelon, deseeded and sliced cucumber and either crumbled feta or (better) salted peanuts. Squeeze over a bit of lime juice. Salad of the summer 😋

Some lovely ideas here - thanks!

Even easier several large watermelons? Can just cut into slices with napkins?

OompaLoompaa · 25/06/2022 16:16

cloudy or pink lemonade

CharSiu · 25/06/2022 16:23

Homemade potato salad, a little bit of spring onion in it, really easy.

If children are going to be there and it’s not far a tub of ice cream, ice cream cones and flakes. I mean I live a fine as well :)

CharSiu · 25/06/2022 16:23

A cone not a fine !

Oh my God this sounds incredible. I'm going out to buy feta AND peanuts right now!

Can you make anything once there? Canned sweetcorn drained, a pack of red chillies sliced and sprinkled with fresh coriander. Will take you less than 30 mins to assemble.

Lollies as mentioned.

Another quick salad if you will have access to the kitchen is kale leaves chopped, add feta or goats cheese, pecans / walnuts, pumpkin seeds - season and dress with olive oil lemon juice (can add red wine vinegar to the dressing if they/you have it).

You could also get some ready made meringues,
some double cream, vanilla essence and some berries to top - whipping the cream wont take long then you have mini pavlovas.

Kite22 · 25/06/2022 17:14

Some cake or other 'easy to eat' pudding

Lochjeda · 25/06/2022 17:16

Id nip to the butchers and grab some bits and go get some alcohol and dessert

PonyPatter44 · 25/06/2022 17:20

We basically lived on that watermelon and feta salad last summer. It is SO lovely, especially with bbq'd meat.

I would bring that, or black bean and corn salad. I love bbqs.
