I'm sure it's something about coming home, closing the door, there's no place we need to be.

Google isn't helping! It's definitely one of those Irish/ country types.

It's called Welcome Home by Peters and Lee. Great song!

Gusfringrules · 25/06/2022 13:19

Peters and Lee weren't Irish!

pebbliebeach · 25/06/2022 13:21

Sorry- that's not the one!

Can you remember any lyrics at all. I can think of lots of 'home' themed songs.

Not Brendan Shine Country home ?

I think you mean 'is it?'

oh & that's a dire song.

pebbliebeach · 25/06/2022 13:24

That's all I can remember I'm afraid. Definitely a love-type song, Irish-country, come on in and close the door, there's no other place we need to be. Something along those lines.

josh Turner ‘your man’ is what came up when I googled your lyrics. Not Irish but country.

pebbliebeach · 25/06/2022 13:34

Yes! That's it!

I have googled that over and over and never found it, that's amazing. Thank you!

Not this one OP but you can't beat an Irish song, this one has a zillion verses
I came home the other night
As drunk as I could be
I saw a head
Upon the bed
Where my old head should be
So I said to my wife
My pretty little wife
Explain this thing to me
Who owns that head
Upon the bed
Where my old head should be?

And she said

You darn fool, you drunken fool
Can't you never see?
Tis nothing but a cabbage, that my mother gave to me
Well I've travelled this wide world all o'er
A hundred miles or more
But whiskers on a cabbage I never did see before

Repeat with variations until everyone's too drunk to sing any more ☘

I love that one @newnamethanks !

Clawdy · 25/06/2022 19:03

I'd forgotten Seven Drunken Nights! As the Dubliners used to say "But we're only allowed to sing five of 'em!" The last two verses were a bit rude!

newnamethanks · 25/06/2022 22:44

That's it. Me for a pint of Guinness and will find some Dubliners on You Tube. Lovely.🍻🎼☘

IckGirl · 25/06/2022 22:45

Was gonna say I'll be your baby tonight but I don't think that's Irish!
