Partner has COVID and we have a newborn

Hi all. Panicking slightly here!

My partner has tested positive for COVID today. He feels okay aside from a sore throat and fatigue. We haven't tested her but our three year old has had a cough, temp, and been a bit grumpy so we assume she has it too.

We also have a four day old baby 😭 he seems absolutely fine. I have tested and am negative so far. I am just terrified of DS catching it and it making him very poorly because he's so young. I am triple jabbed and breastfeeding him.

Any advice/reassurance? Is there any point in asking DP to stay away from us as he's been around us, picking up DS ect for four days!

Thank you

You are breastfeeding so when you come into contact with the virus your body will begin making antibodies and these will pass through to baby in your breastmilk. I don't really think there's much point in your husband staying away really, he's likely been contagious for a few days anyway!

Yes there is a point in your dh staying away for a few days. It would mean you and your baby are less likely to catch covid.

However, even if you do catch covid, you are both highly likely to be absolutely fine.
