Learn to play piano.... online??

I've always wanted to learn a musical instrument. I can read basic music but it's a long time since I learnt this (school 17 years ago!).

DSD plays piano. Currently grade 4. I take her to lessons and bought her a piano which is in our living room so this seems the obvious choice!

I can't afford another set of lessons and DSD (11) is not really able to teach me.

Are there any recommended online course I can play through myself?

I paid for the Simply Piano app during lock down. It took me from no knowledge to playing with two hands and reading the notes. I struggled a bit with moving both hands up and down the piano but as a hobby and just a bit of fun it was great.

Simply Piano comes with a lot of sheet music too, new hits, seasonal, Disney, westend etc which DSD might like and she could also have her own profile playing at her level.

DS and DH have done ten minutes a day in Simply Piano App for almost two weeks and both can now read some music and play left hand chords and right hand melody sometime a bit together! I would not have believed it if I had not seen it. Neither had any interest till they tried this. (I play already).

I tried Simply Piano but prefer Pianote. I got myself a digital piano during the second lockdown and started to learn. I can now read music, albeit slowly, I can play some of the easier classical pieces (because that's what I wanted to learn) but the resources are fantastic on Pianote, plus live sessions, recitals, video tutorials.

Whichever online system you use... go for it! It's great fun! I'm currently murdering Fur Elise Grin

Ooh, interesting! I'd love to give this a go!

Thanks all these sound fantastic!

I'd love to have something to share with DSD. I already volunteer with DSS at beavers and have an hour or so a week just me and him which I love. I'd love the same with DSD especially now she's becoming a tweenager 😆
