DIY projects in the evenings

Yesterday evening our neighbour started a DIY project at around 7pm and was still hammering the wall that adjoins DC's bedroom at 8pm. It was incredibly loud; not a chance of sleeping with that going on.

Would you think this is ok as it wasn't that late?

If I didn't have an overtired child needing to be asleep it wouldn't have bothered me, or if it wasn't into the adjoining wall it wouldn't have bothered me, but it was so frustrating yesterday having made the effort to get her to bed at a decent time to have loud hammering on her bedroom wall.

I went and knocked on the door to ask how long it would continue for as I would have moved DC into another room but before I could even open my mouth I got a grumpy 'that was the last nail' from him (he doesn't like me!).
