Things you’ve heard about other countries which may or may not be true

Just reading the thread about Jamaica on AIBU and remembered I heard once that women drivers don’t have to stop at red traffic lights in Johannesburg because it’s too dangerous - no idea if that’s true or not!

Then the generalised myths (French women don’t get fat; Italians all love kids, etc)

What are yours? Would like to know if the red light thing is true or not!

Re: Italians loving kids. I'd say it used to be true but, at least in my town, many seem to love dogs more now!
