Stupid question about trains today

I never get the train, but need to to go and look at a car today. I'm worried about them not running because of strike action - I'm able to book a ticket online but does that mean that particular train is definitely running?

That's not a stupid question and I want to know too. I should think if it DOES mean that particular train is running, it's going to be rammed.,

JuneJubilee · 24/06/2022 07:03

No it doesn't mean the train will be running.

How far away do you need to go?

bus/family/friend?

The ECML is closed between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Tickets are still available as some rail replacement is runningS

If you look on the train operators website most have tables for this week. As today isn't a strike action day trains are running but won't be at usual service levels

You should be ok but definitely look on the train website (eg not Trainline but the company running your service)

I travelled from Yorkshire to Lancashire on a strike day this week. The information online showed all the trains that were running.
We had to swap at 2 extra stations and there were staff on each platform telling you where to go.
Not one of the trains were packed, all were extremely quiet.

Sorry, NOT a strike day
The day after a strike day

There are still trains running and if you looked just now then the information should be up to date. What area of the country?

Neversaygoodbye · 24/06/2022 07:21

Don't rely on what it says on the trains website even for live trains. My DD got stuck at college on Wednesday, the train to come home said it was running. Five minutes after it was due they announced at the station it wasn't and the next train was cancelled too, so no train for over an hour. I ended up driving to collect her.

OK, i'm chancing it, hot footing to the station right now!! Its devon so hopefully not as bad here

Excellent
Is is quiet? I was surprised how quiet the ones we went on on Wednesday were!

WomanAnon · 24/06/2022 10:02

Our trains have been chaos on the in between days, some major routes only running services between 12&6 (ish) also we had no trains north of Edinburgh on strike days, so it's just a shit show.

theotherfossilsister · 24/06/2022 10:20

I'm interested in this too.
