Question about dementia diagnosis

Due to changes in his memory, my exh went for a CT scan a while ago and was then referred for an MRI scan which he has now had.

He’s now been invited in to speak to the doctor - that’s happening tomorrow - does this mean that he is likely to be diagnosed with something like dementia? Would they call him in if they had found nothing?

It's more complicated than either of those options. They could have found a million other things that they like to monitor (and usually turn into nothing).

When will he see the doc?

They will be discussing the results of the tests/scans - doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Are you going to the appointment with him? Sounds like you should just in case there is anything going on. Hope all is OK.

Thank you - tomorrow.

Sorry @bilbodog - missed your post. Yes I hope it is just to discuss the results.

We haven’t been on speaking terms since we got divorced so I can’t go with him - I don’t know if someone else is going with him. My dc told me what is happening.

Its probably something. They don't invite people in generally if everything is alright, they'd just send a letter saying all is fine. He may have a dementia but they would also have done a memory assessment as a ct scan is only a small part of diagnosis.

Did he have an initial screening first with questions, cognitive assessment etc? Or just straight to scans?

My mam has been in to the memory clinic various times and the first time she was invited in for discussion of results and the results were that her memory was in line with someone of her age, so it is possible to be invited in and it be good news. Following that over the years she has had diagnoses.
