Fantastic sunbed system in Cyprus

We had a holiday to Cyprus over Easter. They had a fantastic system for sunbeds and I am still marvelling over the genius.

On the first day of your holiday, they allocate you sunbeds for the duration of your holiday, one per person. No more rushing down first thing, not finding enough together, moving half way through the day etc.

Meant we could turn up when we wanted and our sunbeds were ready and waiting.

Why on earth don't all hotels do this??

Most hotels don’t have enough space to allocate a sun bed for every single person.

Also, what happens if you don’t like the ones you are allocated, you want sun and they get shade etc?

Most sunloungers are either in the sun or shade for parts of the day and people like to move them to get the sun / shade they want

Sorry, should have not said allocated. We talked to the pool attendant, he showed us what was available and we chose.

It doesn’t take into account people who don’t want a sun bed every day or those who don’t actually want to be in the sun.

If there were sunbeds for everyone, in locations everyone liked, there would never be that ridiculous scrum for sunbeds every morning. I've seen grown men almost getting into a fight over it. Stupidest thing I've ever seen. One said later "well, we've booked a holiday in the sun so I'm getting some sun". The locals were like 🙄 and so was I.

I can see that escalating into bribing them to get first refusal when a good spot becomes free 😂
