Question about railcards: Can I buy the train ticket before I buy the railcard?

My partner and I are doing a few UK rail trips in August.

To save money, we're going to buy a Two Together railcard. This will give us a 1/3 off fares.

Can we buy the train tickets now, with the railcard discount, and then just buy the railcard before we go on our first journey? The website seems to let me do this.

Yes you can buy them early, but you'll need a Railcard on the train

As far as I know, yes, you just need to be able to show the railcard if they ask when you actually travel.

As others have said, yes. You just select the right Railcard when booking but you must have it with you when you travel
