Anyone know about liver enzymes/tests?

I was feeling poorly last week (tired, bad tummy) so went to GP. They did LFTs and found my ALT to be 130 and GGT to be about the same. They have since gone down to pretty much normal range (GGT lagging a bit but coming down). The same thing happened a few years ago when I was poorly.

I’m due to have an ultrasound to check for gallstones, but have been checked for them not too long ago and all was well.

I’ve been referred to a consultant but I am kind of panicking.

Can infections make the ALT/GGT go that high?

How are you op?

SavvyJenks · 11/07/2022 19:56

Yes, they can and if it helps mine (ALT) is currently in the 280 range after a perfectly fine ultrasound and I’m just getting monitoring blood tests every month at present as it’s most likely thyroid related with me. Feel perfectly functional day to day.

I’m fine at the moment - everything has gone back to normal, I’m just having regular bloods.

it’s a weird one and I do have a little panic now and then!

Can I ask what stomach issues. Pain?

Just wondering why they went to liver function tests?
