Has anyone been recently?
I'm wondering if it's worth it for the roller coasters mainly next week?

I did go last August. The queues were quite long. I don't like the rides, but "Because of Covid" they had stopped the option to just pay an entrance fee and walk about. So I had to pay a lot of money to go on the Dodgems. And because of people who had bought the fast pass I had to queue for 30 minutes for them.

TFPNeighbours · 21/06/2022 21:05

Overcrowded and shit

Daisychainsandglitter · 21/06/2022 21:13

We went during the Sunday of the jubilee bank holiday weekend.
The weather was rubbish and it was really quiet so there was little to no queueing.
We really enjoyed it although it was pricy!

Daisychainsandglitter · 21/06/2022 21:14

There's lots of rollercoasters. If that's your thing you'll have a great time.

LimesandClementines · 21/06/2022 21:16

Yes it has got expensive but I do think it's still worth it to be honest especially on a sunny day!

Which day are you thinking of going? June weekdays are generally pretty quiet, there might be a few high school trips in but the queues shouldn't be too bad but weekends are probably getting quite busy.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 21/06/2022 21:17

It's hugely over-priced for what it is, IMO.

They stopped that ages ago before covid. It's been wrist bands only for a few years now.

Im going to go against the grain and say I love it there, loads of rides and well worth the money! Lots of brilliant rollercoasters too as well as smaller rides! I would go there especially in the next few weeks shouldn’t be too busy.

Panda8383 · 21/06/2022 22:27

I was at the end of April, great weather and it was a bit quieter which made it even better as we got on everything a few times :-) i do love Blackpool so would definitely go :-)

Selkiesarereal · 21/06/2022 22:52

To me, Blackpool has a better mid range thrill level ride compared to Alton Towers.

I find Alton Towers is either the really big thrill rides or the little kid ones with only a couple of mid- range ones whereas Blackpool has a lot more that I can actually go on and enjoy.

So if you are into the big rides, Alton Towers although my thrill seeker did say that the Steeplechase at Blackpool was the most terrifying thing they have ever been on!

Neverendingdust · 21/06/2022 23:01

We went on a gloriously sunny Sunday in March. Very few lines, we had a great time and will definitely do it again next year instead of in high season when it’s mad busy and expensive.

headache · 21/06/2022 23:55

We went end of April weather was lovely, queues were tiny had a great time. Kids love Blackpool they don’t see the tackiness.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 22/06/2022 00:57

It'll be before school holidays, during the week.
It's £32 online to pay in advance.
It seems that it's pretty good so I think I'll go for it.
Obviously I can't know about the weather but since I live in Scotland I'm fairly used to it being cold and wet!

I'm taking all my coppers for the penny pushers too!

Yeah I’m from sunny scotland too, I just checked the weather and luckily it was great end of april :-) long as it’s dry :-)

The one where you sit on a horse about the width of a knife feeling like you're tied on with a bit of old string? Grin
Cat and mouse was the worst. Guaranteed whiplash or a herniated disc

You know I think I'll give those ones a miss.
I'm wanting to go on the big coasters, not inadvertently die!

OP you will have a great time, midweek you will get to go on things multiple times so it really makes it worth it. If you like rollercoasters I really love the 'new' one Icon!

I'm really excited about that one.
I've not been on a ride, never mind a coaster for many, many years.
I'm going to get there before opening to make the most of it. <grin>

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 just check what time each individual ride opens, I know when I last went (probably June 2019) the park
opened at 10 but most rides didn't open until 11

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 22/06/2022 10:32

Thanks, I'll do that.
I'm going to head for the new one first as I figure that'll be hardest to get on.

Ah!! Love the Steeplechase! I grew up near Blackpool and when spent many summers on and off the Steeplechase. Best ride ever. (Although I find it weird that a so-called thrill-seeker finds it terrifying - and I'm a complete baby when it comes to 'thrill' rides).

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 22/06/2022 10:40

We went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers last week, we're in Scotland too.

Weather was good both places, Blackpool definitely less crowded with fewer queue skippers (very annoying at AT, several in every queue and no staff or cameras to stop them) but I would definitely say to go, we bought tickets on the app and you scan it for every ride, so having a zip up pocket you can safely store a phone in is a huge help. You can group your tickets together so only one of you has to carry a phone and its cashless within the park, so make sure you have a contactless card or Apple/Google Pay on your phone.
It was great fun, the queues are mainly undercover so you don't get sunburned or rained on. And ICON was amazing!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 22/06/2022 10:41

I've never even been to Blackpool before!

It's just me going and I've got a zip up pocket for my stuff, already sorted that!
