Hello. Been on and off for 15 years. Done cbt and counselling etc. However when I come off them very slowly my mood plummets. Anyone else? I don't think I'll ever be off them.

Yes - I have been on dosulepin for over 10 years. As soon as I try to reduce them my mood plummets and I am plagued with migraine. My GP friend says to stop trying to reduce them and just rejoice that this help is available.

I've been on and off them for decades. At my last relapse the psychiatrist said I'd never come off them; but I started to have various meds related problems including issues with my liver so have no choice. Its been hard. Among other things I take magnesium every day which helps.

I was on and off then for years between aged 21 and 35ish. Every time I came off them I was OK for a few months and then I started plummeting again. Then 9 years ago I went back on them and have never come off and it's great! My marriage is better, my relationships with my kids are better, I've started my own business which is going well, I've done a post grad qualification that I'd always dreamed of doing. Basically I'm a more productive, useful, happy human being. I hope never to come off them.

Like a PP poster said my lifes not perfect. I still have anxiety and down days but I can use strategies to tackle it and nip it in the bud now. Without anti dep I'd fall so fast I'd be at rock bottom without really knowing what had happened.

I’m also likely to be - recently tried to come off and it was a disaster.
Just a word of caution to anyone who read the post upthread about St John’s Wort - it is absolutely a great tool but it makes the contraceptive pill unreliable!
