Planning on going to this. Is there anyone who usually goes who can tell me what time we need to get there to get parking? Thanks.

I live round there went once and will never go again. It was a horrible experience. People using the stones as a playground and the entire area covered in rubbish and a lot of angry drunk travellers of the "new age" variety.

Avebury is much nicer.

How long ago did you go? My understanding is that what you describe, which sounds awful, was a few years ago now and it’s all family friendly now?

I went for the quieter autumn equinox. Was really nice, people were calm and respectful. There were lots of overnight vans parked up the 'secret' lane, which English Heritage have been trying to close, they may have already been successful. Summer.one will be busy, i would highly recommend autumn or spring tho

I went to Avebury for the Summer solstice once. I was 18 at a boarding school in the area and our trendy arts teacher organised it! There wasn’t anyone else there really and was rather magical.
Sorry, not what you asked but did take me back. 😁

Never been but only live 10 miles from it so get to see lots of travellers going to and from it.
Lots of info on here www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/stonehenge/things-to-do/solstice/conditions-of-entry/
