Anyone experienced with dementia?

A really specific question, but how do we help my dad stop losing his hearing aids? He must be binning them or something but we have no idea. We don't think it's intentional as such but it keeps happening.

It causes him a lot of distress to be without them but we are struggling to afford all the replacements.

He lives at home by the way with my mum and brother caring for him.

A friend of mine (not demented!) kept losing his when pulling his jumper off over his head. I wonder if the same is happening with your dad? Friend solved it by having the aid on a sort of string.

We wrote his name on his with sharpie but it still happened. At home we managed to keep them together but when he went into the care home it just..... It was impossible. We even tried to loop them together with a home made like glasses loop thing on the pipes.

Could it be time to switch to NHS ones if he'd tolerate it? They have people who can visit at home or care homes and take the moulds and make replacements? (though it doesn't make it any less irritating when they keep vanishing. Eventually grandad just did without because he would not tolerate the audiology lady or anyone else around his ears so we had to speak loudly and slowly into the 'better' ear.
