Does anyone know if you have to make reservations to eat in Lake Garda?

We're staying in Garda but hoping to spend the day at the pool and drive along to the other little towns at night when it's cooler.

Any other tips gratefully received!

Just been and we didnt, just walked in to all of them (went to Sirmione/Lazize/Peschiera/Bardolino) and all were the same

Highly advisable (staying on Lake Lugano atm). If you're at a hotel have the concierge call on your behalf.

You can always find somewhere nice. It won't always be the place you want unless you book. Hence the conflicting answers!

It's the family friendly places we're looking for, not the fancier places if that helps?

My experience is you have to book for large groups but not small. And the Brits tend to eat earlier than the Italians which means it's less busy.

That's good, thank you.

We were a family of 4 and went for non fancy places. I agree eating earlier helped (we were in by 7) as it did start to get busier (we were there for Republic Day so it was really busy).

Have been to Lake Garda a lot and have never booked. There are so many restaurants!

The day after Republic Day we went to Desenzano and the first place we liked had a 10 minute wait so just moved onto the next one.

We stayed in Peschiera and drove around a lot so very similar

Parking on the other hand sometimes was trickier!

Oh yes the hellish parking.

I was the only one brave enough to drive there. And I lived there previously. Everyone else was too scared.

DH is German and has no fear driving like a lunatic with the best of the Europeans Shock

Good. He'll live Grin

We didnt actually find the driving that bad to be fair! DH put me in charge of parking. Sirmione was the main one and we learnt where they were. Lazise has a nice one as well as does Bardolino
