Went out for a leaving lunch, Italian restaurant. Pizza /pasta around £15.each. Waitress came and told us the specials, steak and cod. Fuck it, I thought, I'll have a steak. Also had a glass of wine. Food was nice, not spectacular.

Guess how much the bill was?

£60!!

I was so shocked I didn't speak and just paid.

Tried not to kick myself.

Day after, boss says, you can all expense your lunches as it was a leaving do!!

😃😃😃🍷

So happy

Anyone else ever get that lucky?

I was once visiting London with my mum and DS. We walked past a famous theatre and we were admiring the poster for the sold out show. Out of nowhere a woman appeared and asked if we were looking for tickets. Of course we thought she was a ticket tout and declined but she explained she was an assistant and her boss had booked 3 tickets for this show but her child was sick so rather than have the tickets wasted she’d sent it to the theatre to try and give them away!

took a little bit of convincing she was genuine but we had them, and of course thanked her and her manager for such a kind act. Went back a few hours later for the show. We were 3 rows from the stage! I had a look at ticket prices afterwards and they were £160 each!!!! Luckiest day of my life and DS still talks about it

Early on the morning of the day we were supposed to fly home from a lovely Caribbean holiday, the rep phoned to say she was terribly sorry, but our flight had been delayed for 24 hours. And of course we wouldn’t be charged for the extra day in the hotel.
Yippee!!

I hadn’t even started packing my own things, let alone collecting up all the wet sandy stuff lying all over dds’ bedroom floor.

I did feel sorry for the people who should have been coming out on that flight, but what a reprieve!

I needed to change my car and by coincidence my cousin was selling hers.

Mine was diesel and, having just retired, I was no longer doing the mileage I had been doing.

My cousin was having to give up driving for health reasons. It's a 14 year old car with very low mileage, so ideal for my 1 to 2 thousand a year.

We agreed a thousand pounds, which was what a local garage had offered. When i went to collect it she refused payment asking me instead just to pay the garage fee - for it's recent test, which it passed. So a new (to me) car for £40.

As I am only getting little more than basic state pension this was an absolute win.
