Tesco delivery slot question :)

Laiste · 18/06/2022 16:13

I'm probably the only one in the world who doesn't know this by now - but:

Do Tesco release a whole week at a time for delivery slots? If so is it on a Saturday?

When you google it says they release new slots every day at midnight, but the slots are all in blocks of exactly a week so ... how, why, what ?? ...... 🤔😳😂

TIA

(need to book a slot for mid July on arrival at holiday cottage. Never done this before)

On my app just now I can book up until 15 July. Just download the app and see what dates are available for that area.

Laiste · 18/06/2022 16:26

!!!
Really?! Oooh. 15th is when i need it for. I'm trying to do it on my laptop and 8th is the furthest ahead i can do ....

Thank you. I'll have a look.

Folks with delivery saver will be able to see slots further ahead so if you don't have that, it would explain why.

On mine, there's a new 24hrs released at midnight every night.

Go on stay midnight tonight and you should see the next day available I think

Laiste · 18/06/2022 16:37

OK got the app now. Still only showing up to 8th.

Right so if i check again next Thursday (24th) it'll have released 15th July slots on there. Yes?

OP posts:
Myshitisreal · 18/06/2022 16:59

In theory yes absolutely.

If you check tomorrow (or after midnight tonight) you should see the 9th.

I spent faaaaaar too long learning this stuff during lockdown as we very much relied on those deliveries.

Don't forget to change your postcode and book the delivery for the right place. I've accidentally had tesco delivered to my Mum previously 🤭

I'm sure you will be fine ♥

Asda may have slots further ahead you could book now as back up (then cancel once you get tesco sorted)

Myshitisreal · 18/06/2022 17:01

It should show after midnight next Thursday

PeekAtYou · 18/06/2022 17:17

They release a day at a time. 12:01 today (1 past midnight) I booked 15th July delivery. If I didn't have delivery saver then I'd be able to book up to 8th July delivery.

Laiste · 18/06/2022 17:31

Thank you so much :)

I can't believe i've got to this age without doing an online grocery shop before!

I have to say, the Tesco site (on PC) is not the most user friendly to newbies.

Checking the postcode/right address - yes, i'll check it about 100 times when the time comes. I do have this 'orrible image of our weeks holiday food arriving back at home 😳

I have delivery saver and it lets you book for the next 4 weeks. If you plan to get a weekly delivery then the DS is worth it because it’s £7 per month instead of £5-7 per delivery.

I started deliveries during lockdown and never stopped

Tumbleweed101 · 18/06/2022 17:52

As others have said, you can book a few weeks further if you have delivery saver. It isn't a problem getting slots now, not like it was back in lockdown! Do make sure you check your shopping out at the address you want it to go to and not your home address as you can't change this later.

Laiste · 18/06/2022 18:40

Sorry! Everyone has been talking to me about delivery saver (as in - get it. Now.) and i was thinking you were all just telling be about something which you have because you were vulnerable during lockdown <face palm>

😂

Right i'm with you all now🙄 I'll look into getting that tomorrow.
(having first JD now so daren't do anything technical right n ow)

Laiste · 19/06/2022 07:40

OK. I've signed up to delivery saver. 6 month plan. 7.99 per month.

I'm still not seeing anything past July 9th. 🤔

Do you have a phone or tablet you can download the app onto? The website is really shit but the app is pretty good.

Laiste · 19/06/2022 07:46

I downloaded the app yesterday eve on recommendation.

I'll have a look on my phone.
thank you.

Laiste · 19/06/2022 07:47

I've Whatsapped Tesco customer services. It has warned me it may take some time to answer.

This is taking a ridiculous amount of my life up! <grrrr>
It's just bloomin' shopping!

I'll have another look at it later. At least if your plan has cost more than you've saved at the end of the 6 months they'll give you vouchers for the difference.

@Laiste Do you plan to use Tesco after your holiday? If so, I really wouldn’t bother with Delivery Saver. It’s great for people like me who shop weekly and it saves me loads by of money but if you’re just using it now and again it’s a complete waste. Although it gives you access to slots a week ahead, this is only useful at Christmas now. It’s really not so in demand that you need it for this situation.

I suggest that you firstly double check Tesco will deliver to your holiday house (they have pretty good coverage but do check). Do this by adding the holiday house address to your address book. You need to name it so go for something like ‘Devon Holiday’ or ‘Holiday July 2022’. Then see if it would allow you to book a delivery there for next week. If it would then you’re in luck.

Then all you need to do is wait an extra week until the slots for the day you want are released. No need to stay up until midnight, just look the next morning. If there are any times which say ‘unavailable’ then it’s likely they don’t deliver to that area at that time. Choose the slot you want then add something to the basket and check out. You don’t need to decide everything you want right now but you do need to ‘buy’ something and check out to book the slot. Once that’s booked it’s secure and you have until the day before to finalise what you want. It will ask you to pay again each time but they don’t actually take payment until the end when they pick your shopping.

Hope that helps!

@123walrus Hi there, bless you thank you so much for taking the time to type all that for me x

I had an answer from John at Tesco on whatsapp and he said go into private browsing to get the 4 week view (!). I did this and it worked!

I can now see the 15th July! I have put in the holiday address and i can see that the 2 slots either side of the one i want (4pm till 5) are taken already!

I'm trying to book the damn slot and the little blue line goes round it when i click on it, but when i go to either Continue Shopping or Checkout it just goes back to Book A Slot? option.

The app - John said re install it. I did this. I can now see the 4 weeks on there too. But when i try to book the slot it says 'Something has gone wrong'.

................... i'm on the point of giving up.

OP posts:
Laiste · 19/06/2022 09:02

I'm not giving up! I'm like a dog with a bone now.

DH is giving me the side eye.

I messaged John again and he said wait till the holiday cottage cottage address has been on there for 24 hours so the account can update. He said tell him if it doesn't work so he can inform IT.

I put the address on there around the same time i started this thread so i'll go back and check it at 7 ish tonight.

This must be the worlds most boring thread. Thank you to all those still reading 😂
