Wimbledon tennis by bus

Kezzie200 · 18/06/2022 12:27

Is there anywhere on outskirts of London where I could book to stay and be able to park as well as get to the Lawn Tennis Club using a bus?

It's because I'm thinking of bringing my Dad as my guest ballot ticket and he is 81, so a car journey and bus for the day would probably suit us best.

Thanks

If you stayed in Beckenham/croydon area you can get the tram straight trough to Wimbledon & they did have buses outside the station which dropped you right outside the gates it was ten pounds return trip
but may have gone up since I did it a couple of years ago, have a lovely time.

I was going to suggest staying anywhere on a train line to Wimbledon (Kingston-upon-Thames, Hampton Court?) and the same buses. Or the taxis do a roaring trade - and they always pack 5 people in so costs are shared.

Mordon.
Get 93 to bottom of Wimbledon hill, change and take 493 (same bus stop) .
Stops outside.

Double check this though as there are new road closures this year.

I used to stay every week in the Wimbledon South Premier Inn for work - very popular for Wimbledon as the prices went up, I'd recommend you book now! There is a massive car park, which used to be free, not sure if it still is.

Not far from Wimbledon and get an Uber. Everyone uses Uber in Morden.

Premier Inn in Colliers Wood - think it's called Wimbledon South. You can get the 200 bus from Colliers Wood to Wimbledon and then pick up one of the Wimbledon buses to the tennis. Very easy. Parking used to be free if you get Premier Inn to validate your ticket. Otherwise it's £6 a day.

Thanks everyone. I'll check first they are running.

493 is diverted down Parkside (where the 93 goes) during The Championships, Church Rd is closed so it won't be any good for someone who has mobilty issues. I would suggest the Park & Ride as that drops you by Centre Court/Court 3 but there's been no info about it this year.

OP ...sorry about my mis-i formation about the 493 !

I use it alot ..but obviously not during tennis season !
