Just came back from an amazing place and wanted to share. It's a holiday park called The Bay Colwell, went there with my 2 year old and my elderly dad and all had a fab time. The cottage was pristine and had really good quality cooking equipment etc, it was really quiet abd peaceful and had a soft play and an indoor swimming pool. Best of all it was 3 mins walk from the beach. Literally couldn't fault the place and just wanted to shout about it (don't worry I don't work for them or anything!)

Thanks for this. I’ve been thinking of buying a holiday home somewhere on the S coast, hadn’t investigated the I of W at all. Would be largely for family/Gdcs to use.

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER they sell holiday homes there I think. Google it, it's honestly really lovely

Thanks @BarbaraVineFan
It's great to have recommendations. Holidays are so expensive so great to hear others good experiences

BarbaraVineFan · 17/06/2022 22:34

@Ribb no worries. Only thing is I think it gets very expensive in the school holidays of course, but if you can go off-peak it really is decent value in my opinion. We paid £460 for a Monday to Friday stay

@ReallySeriouslyNope i know!! From September I will need to book holidays at peak times so will need to be doing some serious research to find the bargains (if there are any!)

Unfortunately I'll have to suck up the cost of peak time. We did plenty when we could do outside of school times so I can't grumble too much.
I've had a mooch and it looks nice.

Thanks, @BarbaraVineFan , I’ve already been investigating online.
I think I’d go for a different I of W park though, Whitecliff Bay, only because it has both indoor and outdoor pools and Gdcs love the water.

Dh won’t be mad keen, I don’t think - of course they’re not a good investment from a financial POV - a depreciating asset - but a cash purchase would provide dd and family with some relatively cheap seaside holidays and reduce inheritance tax into the bargain (we’re both fairly ancient so do think about these things.)

I might book a few days in post school hols September, for a good look around, We do like the I of W - had a few days there after we both retired - nearly 10 years ago now 😱.
