October half term holiday destinations

where is good to go in October half term for a young family (DCs 3 and 7)? Have been to the canaries and Cyprus at that time of year, and would like decent weather to be able to use the pool through the day. Am I missing anywhere in the short haul category?

Dubai. Know it’s not popular on mn but we go to Ras Al khamah for the weather, about 6 hour flight. Have also been to Cape Verde a few times at that time of year which is very hot (a bit too hot!) Along with where you’ve already been those are really the only options without going further. The Greek islands are an option but only if happy to not rely on the pool completely. Can be a bit chilly round pool if unlucky but if hire a car and get around (think santorini, Rhodes) there’s plenty of other things to do.

Egypt
Cyprus

I should have said we aren’t really keen on Egypt or Turkey due to political instability. Probably overly cautious but that is us!

Dubai. We thought about going there several years ago when we had just the one DC. We didn’t in the end, and now I have to say I have gone off the idea. I do hear great things from people who go but I’m not really sure it’s for us.

Malta or Sicily?

If you were willing to go to Dubai - which someone said is a 6 hr journey, you could consider Barbados or Antigua. I think Barbados is about 7 hours and the weather will be nice in October.

Hurghada in Egypt, its as safe as you are in Europe.
