Sooo went to put some fuel in my car to get to work! It’s now £2

How the feck am I supposed to be able to afford to get to work? I do a 30 mile trip….I live rurally and there a no buses! Can’t ride my bike…and I can’t work from home.

So fed up of this now I can’t afford it there is no more money in the pot 😔 and I don’t get paid till next week!

Luckily I have enough food etc but at having a panic now about next week

Fuck knows, not helpful I know! But I feel your pain, I'm In the same boat. Its just not sustainable.

Same here. I'm also rural. Public transport non existent.
Also can't work from home.
I'm thinking of changing jobs but as there's almost no work a shorter journey away this will be tough.

A quite significant amount of the cost of fuel is fuel duty and VAT

Fuel duty is 53p per litre and VAT is 35p on £2

So 88p of the £2 is going as money towards Government spending

In the meantime, people are spending less in shops, struggling to get to work and economising because fuel is getting expensive.

The 5p a cut in fuel duty is nothing. Maybe they should look at fuel duty and VAT. Leave people with more money in their pockets to spend in the economy

Scared of the price of fuel currently. As soon as it was announced about prices reaching £2 it felt like a race by companies to get there.

CornishGem1975 · 17/06/2022 08:18

That won't happen @cakeorwine The point of interest rates going up is to stop us spending so that prices lower.

It's all such a mess.

I think everyone will be returning to work from home soon Confused

JungleBungles · 17/06/2022 08:56

I literally can’t work from home! I may be able to do an afternoon a week but that doesn’t help!

im so bloody worried! £30 gave me 208 miles - I’ve been driving so slowly to conserve fuel

Have to say that doesn't surprise me. We went on a trip last week, and petrol in next county was 197.5p in one area, others closeby were 192p+.
