Cat litter tray - would it be bad etiquette...

To place the tray in a large storage cupboard next to a guest bedroom?

I don't know if I'm over thinking - but am cat sitting at the moment. The litter tray stays in a cupboard with the door just slightly ajar. The door to the bedroom next door closes over.

A guest is coming to stay very last minute for one night - as in it's inconvenient but I've agreed as there's a good reason. They would stay in the room next door to where the litter tray is. Is this just bad etiquette to host them there?

I can't sleep in the guest room as I am very noise sensitive (guests tell me they have no issues). If I do, giving up my own bedroom for my guest, I will probably not sleep and have plans the next day. What would you do?

I think in the circs, its fine. You agreed to catsit and set up the tray before you agreed to do this favour for someone else. You certainly don't want to confuse the cat and have them going other places in your house because you moved the litter tray. Have you warned your guest?

@godmum56 the guest knows the cat will be here and is a cat person who also sometimes catsits. You are right about now confusing the cat - especially as she is 18!

I haven't got as far as explaining because her visit has happened so fast. The thing is we will be out late and she leaves the next day so hopefully it wouldn't be too bad. But it is her first time visiting and don't want her to have a crap time!

I never sleep there so I'd don't know but I do sometimes smell it when 'fresh' from a separate room. Tmi I know...

Ok Do Not move an 18 yeat old cat's litter tray! If your friend is a cat person, she will understand.
