2 day baby-free honeymoon abroad ideas?

Hello, we are getting married this summer but have a baby (who will be almost 1). I’ve only ever left him for one night ever and originally I planned to just go a weeks family holiday after the wedding as I just wouldn’t enjoy a week away from him. I’m now thinking maybe we should do something child-free for 2 nights, considering a short flight with only hand luggage like Ibiza maybe? Any other suggestions of somewhere good to go for 48 hours? Ideally somewhere sunny 🌞thanks!

I always love Barcelona for very short breaks - it's been a while since I've been though.

I was also gonna say Barcelona, perfect city for this kind of break. Madrid is lovely too.

Congrats

I would do Paris (but that is where we spent our honeymoon so maybe I am biased 😊).

Barcelona is lovely, and perfect for a short break. Istanbul is stunning city as well. You can do the main bits in 2 days, if you don't mind the 3.5 hour flight, and it's very cheap once you're there.

Another going to suggest Barcelona! We've also loved Hamburg, Berlin and Paris for 2 day breaks

Dh and I went to Lisbon. I also like Barcelona but it’s a bit more tacky and touristy. We stayed in a boutique hotel with a pool and delicious breakfasts. There are also some amazing restaurants in Lisbon.

South of France via Nice airport. Antibes perhaps or Cannes.

We went to Rome on our DC free honeymoon. We went for 3 days though. Loved it!

Carcassonne in the South of France. Beautiful walled city. Convenient airport.

Hotel de la Cite is within the castle walls.

looking into Barcelona now! Thanks for the suggestions! Looked into Nice but felt it was probably too far on a flight. We’ve been to Paris for 2 or 3 nights before and loved it but maybe we should do Barcelona since we haven’t been

With the airport queues at the moment, I don't think I'd bother going abroad for just 2 nights. I'd book a nice BnB or hotel somewhere a bit closer to home. Much more relaxing after organising a wedding. Smile

Venice.

I'd be tempted to get train somewhere & avoid flying. Paris, Lillie, Brussels, Amsterdam?

Saville, staying at the Alfonso

This. Less travelling time. I'd book a gorgeous hotel or b&b somewhere in the Cotswolds or similar. Enjoy the peace and not feeling you have to see all the sights in a city.

@sallydoodlecat @Kite22 @TheClitterati this is very true 😔 we’re not long back a family holiday and our airport wasn’t too bad initially but people in our queue had their flight cancelled, ours was then delayed an hour (which wasn’t too awful at the time) but the queue in Palma was over an hour then the bus took 3 hours to get to our hotel! It turns a 2 hour short flight into an 8 hour trip 🤦🏼‍♀️
