Fat freezing

ThePastafarian · 16/06/2022 11:53

Has anyone had a fat freezing procedure? I'm mulling it over. Basically I'm a fairly slender person with a mega fat belly that nothing will shift. I've been between 9 and 10.5 stone in my adult life, but even at my slimmest my belly was 1-2 dress sizes bigger than the rest of me. It's not bloating - it just sticks out and is flabby! Would fat freezing really make it just magically melt away... Or is it a swizz? Has anyone tried it?

@ThePastafarian have you looked into the cost of it though? Shock

Here's a local clinic that offers it, and their prices:

try not to be so touchy when you get an honest answer even if its not what you want to hear...

How about you try not to be so bloody rude?!

Ooooh gosh Im so sorry. Theres a difference between rude and straight talking....being accused self-righteousness is pretty rude IMO....telling someone the facts however is just straight talking....

Whats the point in asking for an opinion if youre only going to listen to the opinions that suit you....Im actually talking sense i.e. trying to point out that fat freezing is pretty bloody stupid when you could just sort it yourself with the correct approach.....

Afrodizzyak · 16/06/2022 15:49

I know nothing about fat freezing, but a friend of mine had liposuction and worked really well. She's a natural apple shape by the way.

youre trying to convince me youre just skin and bones but have a massive belly

Yeah, more than one person has told you that. You've made your point and are coming across as an arsehole now. Take a wee wander back to AIBU.

OP I've also had a fat belly at no matter what size I've been. It's now down to much food and alcohol so no excuses at the moment but I've been skinny with a belly. Hormones and genetics.

@swifty1974

Your comments are ridiculous. I'm 5'6" and weigh 8 stone 4/5 and I have a very fat tummy. You can't choose where you want to lose fat from. If I lost enough weight for my stomach to be flat I'd look ill. Some people are just genetically prone to have fat tummies just as they can have big hips or thighs.

The OP asked a perfectly reasonable question and you've been unhelpful and snarky.

This exactly.
Plus not to be dramatic, but encouraging someone underweight to lose more weight is pretty dangerous.

I give up....the world has gone mad

Underweight and fat at the same time, genetics??? What a load of old cobblers

70kid · 16/06/2022 16:10

The only way to get rid of a flabby lose belly /skin is a tummy tuck with lipo

as you said when you lose weight the loose skin / big belly will still be there just a bit smaller .
TT with lipo is the really the only thing that will work long term

Even If I put on a bit of weight my stomach stays firm and flat because of the TT

minipie · 16/06/2022 16:17

I’ve not had it OP but discussed it with the beautician

Decided not to because of

  1. the cost - larger areas are super expensive
  2. the risk of a bad reaction a la Linda
  3. she said it only has a 25-50% reduction
  4. many people need several sessions on the same area
  5. risk of putting it back on at some point so it’s all a waste

Basically I decided if I’m going to do anything it would be lipo which at least doesn’t have the risk of 2). But in the meantime I’m focusing on diet and exercise.

motogirl · 16/06/2022 16:20

Have you tried a twice daily abs programme. Dd (fitness trainer qualified) planned me an 8 minutes workout which I did twice a day and it toned a lot, unfortunately covid happened and I stopped but I go recommend this approach in addition to general exercise

TortugaRumCakeQueen · 16/06/2022 17:38

I had this done in 2016 and it certainly worked for me. Unfortunately, I have regained all the weight and more, due to over eating and drinking wine!

BlandUsername · 16/06/2022 17:48

Gosh @swifty1974, who pissed on your chips?

I have a history of anorexia and have been recently diagnosed with mild lipoedema. My BMI is 19. Lipoedema means a build up of abnormal fat certain places that cannot be metabolised. So your statement “Underweight and fat at the same time, genetics??? What a load of old cobblers,” is, in fact, a load of old cobblers. (I know I personally am not underweight, but if I were to lose three stone, I’d still have the lipoedema fat.)

OP, I would not have fat freezing due to the risk involved. Liposuction is probably the better option if you are really unhappy.

swifty1974 · 16/06/2022 18:02

Oh sorry I must of missed the part where the OP mentioned lipoedema....btw oedema is a build up of fluid in the tissue....my other half is a nurse....

What I'm sayin (again) is that you can sculpt and shape your body using exercise and diet....that's just a fact....there's no need for Lipo or Freezing or any other stupid procedure....just get off your arse and do something about it....

Furthermore I even suggested resistance training to build muscle tone which will both burn fat (not locally you understand because that's not possible) and help the rest of her body be more in balance

minipie · 16/06/2022 18:05

Lipodema is not a build up of fluid swifty, it is localised fat and very difficult to get rid of. There are pictures if anorexics with fat legs who have lipodema. Try looking it up rather than asking your OH.

However, it’s not usually on the stomach so doubt that’s the OP’s issue.

So I'm wrong and youre not right....sorry what's your point again....I'll say it again then....it's impossible to be underweight and fat (unless you have lipoedema in your legs which is lrrrelevant) (or unless you have bad genetics and big hips and thighs as a previous comment said) but you can sort yourself out if you exercise and eat properly....there is that better....

SuziSecondLaw · 16/06/2022 18:11

You're thinking of lymphedema @swifty1974, it's a different thing. Lymphodema is a build up of fluid, lipodema is a build up of fat.

My oh isn't a nurse, but I Google 😉

olympicsrock · 16/06/2022 18:13

I had two sessions. I was wasn’t very impressed with the results to be honest.

minipie · 16/06/2022 18:13

My point is, don’t tell people they’re talking cobblers when they’re not and you are.

Clearly....that's why you're telling people to have surgery rather than exercise and eat properly

Lordy, @swifty1974 , fancy getting the two confused! Nobody will be able to believe a word you say now. Pipe down, eh? You've made your point.

Pipe down?! 😂
I was being a knobhead intentionally, hence the wink. Obviously didn't come across very well... 🤦🏻‍♀️

May I draw your attention to your own words:
burn fat (not locally you understand because that's not possible)

Which is what the sensible people have been saying for the whole thread.

I didn’t say anything of the sort.

ThePastafarian · 16/06/2022 18:56

Thank you to the helpful people. It sounds like mixed results from those who've had it. I've ruled out lipo because I don't want to risk a general anaesthetic. This seemed less dramatic - the risks appear to be mostly cosmetic. I'm already lumpy, so it didn't worry me too much to end up a different kind of lumpy!

ThePastafarian · 16/06/2022 19:09

Also not too concerned about "putting it back on". My weight is pretty stable. Beyond my twenties - when I got too-thin, then a bit fat, then thin again - it hasn't really fluctuated.
