Has anyone downloaded/used an NHS vaccine certificate for France

Would be grateful for any recent experiences. TIA.

Going to France to visit friends on Sunday.

Just to start by saying that apps hate me/DH. They never work for us like they do for everyone else, so decided to download a paper copy of our Covid vaccination records.

Went onto the NHs site and downloaded and printed my proof of vaccination. No problems - all done and printed within 10 minutes. Went to do DHs and get a message saying that as he is travelling overseas they need to get proof of his indentity. We then have to faff about scanning and electronically sending off a copy of his passport. Get a message saying thanks for sending, we will check this out and send you the proof of vaccination within the next 7 days. We go on Sunday! DH tried to download the app on his phone - not enough memory left to download. We are not buying a new phone just to download a sodding app.

So. Providing we get his proof we are good to go but do they actually look at it if it doesn't arrive in time? We are going by ferry. Also, will my certificate work as I was not asked for proof of identity?

Beginning to wish we were staying at home!"

I got the ferry to France a couple of weeks ago, and there were no 'covid passport' checks. We had them all ready, and the signs at the port said to have them ready, but nobody wanted to see them.

We went by train two weeks ago and had to show Covid certificates. I downloaded the NHS ones and this was fine. They scanned the barcodes.

Can he not delete some apps he doesn't use often and free up space for the download? From memory I think they usually accept the proof of identity quite quickly and then you should be able to prompt the app to email you the paper copy of the code?

Thank you. Was this the UK side or when you landed in France?

He could just delete unused apps, pictures etc from the phone.

We went last weekend (ferry) and ours were checked, but staff were checking at random rather than everyone.

Thank you. Mine downloaded OK but his asked for proof of identity to be sent. Did you have to send proof of identity before downloading?

Thank you. Wasn't given the opportunity to request it be sent by email. Just a message to say it would be posted after checks made.

Only had three apps on there. Delete but still no room apparently. Very old phone.

I don't understand why doing his was so different to mine when there was only about 10 minutes between applying.

We went on the ferry in the May half term. Ours were checked U.K. and French side. Just showed them the barcode on the NHS app. Was easy.

Be warned, you also have to have had your last jab (second or third) within 9 months of travel. Mine was in September so I only just made it. She even commented that it was 8 months ago when I showed her my phone so they do notice.

I think at some point they tightened up the ID requirements for getting the app or accessing a certificate, as I'm sure I didn't have to upload any ID docs when I first downloaded the NHS app but my DC both did. It was either a timing thing, or perhaps I was already verified from ordering repeat prescriptions online?
