Has anyone cycled the Monsall trail?

It's it as hard work as the Tissington trail, that was really really hard work as you can really feel the gradient. Is Monsall as hard? Thinking of starting from Hassop.

Yes, we did it last year with our then 6 year old. Didn't notice the gradient at all. Only realised there was one on the way back when we were going downhill! You'll be fine.

It is much easier than Tissington. Only the tiniest bit of gradient that as PP said you don't really notice. It is also much less exposes than Tissington so you don't get the side winds. Hassop Station is a lovely place to start, great cafe!

Yeah I know it well, it's one of my regular running routes (as is Tissington trail). It's slightly uphill from Hassop going towards Wye Dale - I'd say it's fairly similar to Tissington in terms of the gradient - but I think you'd only really notice it if already a bit tired from the cycle. Such a beautiful trail, thoroughly recommend! 💚

Is Tissington that bad on a bike?! I've run it several times and didn't think it was that bad running it. I did the section from Parsely Hay to Ashbourne - maybe other parts of it are more hilly? It is exposed though, so side winds might make it feel harder...

I've only walked a bit of the Monsal Trail, and that felt flat to me. Lovely views though!

Thanks. I'm
Having a bagel and a cuppa at Hassop station before setting off. I found Tissington really hard work!

I agree with a previous poster that I didn't realise I was going uphill until I turned around and my wheels did the work all the way back. I'm not super fit or anything and it was a really hot day when I did it so you'll be fine! Enjoy!

I found it ok in second gear. Not as hard as Tissington, and the views are amazing! Now waiting for a well earned ice cream back at hassop.
