Fed up - utterly - with hearing about sodding Father's Day

There is no escape. It's everywhere and worse than ever this year, it seems. I don't recall such rabid enthusiasm or commercial cashing-in for Mother's Day. Can't it just piss off forever?

Thankyou. I needed that. As you were.

I keep getting emails from various companies asking me if I don't want to hear about Father's Day. Seems a bit wrong way round to me .

These annoy me, I get them for mothers day to. So if I dont really want to hear about mothers day for example, which I dont, I get a round of emails asking me if i want to opt out, and if I dont respond to them all I get a second round of emails with advertisments, so with their 'sensitivity' I actually get more emails

I tried the opting out thing one year with some companies, only lasted a year though, the next year I was expected to opt out again

There certainly was a lot around on Mother's Day.

I haven't noticed anything other than cards in Tesco 🤷‍♀️ Maybe you're just ultra sensitive, so seeing it everywhere. I'm sure there are Father's Day things around...but why shouldn't there be? It doesn't stop being 'a thing' just because some people don't like it.

My dad died a few years ago and I miss him terribly...but I don't wish to stop others from celebrating their own lovely dads...or even stop celebrating mine! I still raise a glass to him on Father's Day. No need to be cross about it at all...just change your mindset.

I've always been sensitive to fathers day since my dad opted out my life. I think advertising has increased over the last twenty years but I don't think this year is worse than any others, maybe a bit more jarring as we've had two covid years when it was a bit harder to promote family get togethers and going out but I'd say it's probably similar to 2019.

This is me also.
