Do you wash behind your ears?

It’s just occurred to me that I’ve never done this. Is this gross?! I guess shampoo runs down when I wash hair. I’m feeling sick with morning sickness and have had a lot of time to think while in bed recently!

No, what a weird waste of life! I stand under the power shower for 10 mins every morning and use cotton buds every day. No one has ever mentioned the grossness of my ears, and I work with children who would be sure to do so if it were an issue! I've literally never noticed the condition of anyone else's ears either.

Blondbombsite · 15/06/2022 20:45

I don’t as I don’t have too, washing my hair does a good enough job. However, I have to remember to wash behind DS’ ears as the shape of his means they get a bit cheesy and dry skin/ soap gathers behind them, he gets it from DP!

godmum56 · 15/06/2022 20:46

Yes. i get soreness and split skin there if I don't.....its been like that since childhood

EBearhug · 15/06/2022 20:47

Of course I do! If you don't clean behind yer lugholes, you'll get spuds growing there!

Also, it's hardly time consuming, just an extra bit of a scrub as you wash your face or hair.

cushioncovers · 15/06/2022 20:48

Yes when I shampoo my hair

dudsville · 15/06/2022 20:51

Yes. I wash behind my ears. A swipe with the flannel or with the cotton pad after I've used pixie gliw/glycolic acid on my face.

MobLife · 15/06/2022 20:54

I wash all my nooks and crannies....that includes behind the ears!
Why wouldn't you?!

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 15/06/2022 20:58

Yes but only with the shampoo whilst I'm washing my hair

mizzo · 15/06/2022 20:59

Takes me right back to childhood, having a thorough flanneling behind the ears. I can almost smell the Imperial Leather.

tobee · 15/06/2022 21:00

Do it as part of my face cleansing routine.

rocksonrocks · 15/06/2022 21:11

Yes of course! Also regularly wipe the inside with a flannel

Why wouldn't you?!

I can't reach one ear at all. So thats a pretty good reason

IamEarthymama · 15/06/2022 21:26

I use a purple shampoo to get a violet hue on my white hair.
If I don’t give my ears a scrub they go purple and as they are a bit Spockish I don’t think that’s a good look.
I use a gluey type product too, that gets on my ears and neck and looks really grubby
as the day wears on!
I use reusable pads to clean my face and neck in the evening and always include my ears.

DW checks me over and says, You can grow spuds behind them yeroles, so I have to be vigilant! 😉😉

Now, my mother was obsessed with having a clean neck and as I grow older I can see why. ☺️

leonpride · 15/06/2022 21:31

Lots of people don't bother with soap, never mind washing behind ears. I didn't use to, but just do it now as I'm using the soap bar.

blebbleb · 15/06/2022 21:34

Yes when I use shower gel. Just a quick sweep behind the ears is enough

thistimelastweek · 15/06/2022 21:35

Yes.

I also wash between my toes.

Attictroll · 15/06/2022 21:36

Yes - not every day but maybe weekly when using a toner I will do behind ears grey gunge is usually left on cotton wool

Loadedforest · 15/06/2022 21:40

I wash face, underarms, under boobs and genitals. Everything else is just rinsed in general showering. I’m perfectly clean

I can’t work out what the gluey product would be/ be for 🤔

Exactly this.

You have to or you grow actual potatoes there.

My Nan said.

Bloodybridget · 15/06/2022 21:48

I do wash behind my ears when I shower (face, neck, ears inside and out are a group, for me) but I don't think behind ears can actually get that dirty. Especially as my ears stick out more than I would like, they're not exactly nook-and-cranny-ish.

SummerSummerSummertime · 15/06/2022 21:53

What? No!

HanSB · 15/06/2022 21:58

I get a cheesy build up behind my ear lobes everyday so I'm careful with washing it in the shower. I don't know why as I'm not particularly sweaty!

MobLife · 16/06/2022 16:13

@AllThingsServeTheBeam
And?

LookAtMyCircumstance · 16/06/2022 16:30

It's not been the big deal in my life that as a child I was led to believe it would be. Or around my neck. I remember the circle of grime my brother used to get around his neck that had to be scrubbed off nightly. My kids just don't get that - is it because they wear shirts and ties to school now and we didn't so our 1970/80s necks were out there to collect dirt?
