China detects signals from aliens

The official Chinese news agency released a statement that they had detected signals that could only have originated from alien life. Then they deleted it.......

There has been an escalation of alien stuff lately. In the US they had a congress meeting about it, as there was a video taken by a pilot of an unidentified object. So I'm not surprised things about aliens are popping up left and right. I'm kind of "agnostic" (lol) about whether I believe in alien life forms or not but I don't understand why the government treats it like some super classified secret. I'm sure more things will come out since there's nothing else for anyone to sink their teeth into except the monkey pox which is too "boring" lol

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 15/06/2022 21:02

I wonder if the Chinese news agency released the statement just before the actual message from the aliens was finally deciphered:

Greetings. Will be arriving in 3 of your earth days. Don't tell anyone yet. We'd like it to be a surprise.

I am going for zombie apocalypse. And I have decided, I am not going to run and hide, I am going to get bitten asap and join the ravening masses. I just couldn’t take the stress of worrying if that random creaking noise was woodworm, a stray dog or a zombie.

When I read The Road, I thought the wife had the right idea - shot herself soon after the catastrophic event (it’s in chapter 1 folks, not much of a spoiler).

Mother87 · 15/06/2022 21:07

Can't imagine why they'd choose to come here - but Pritti Awful will try stick em on a plane to somewhere

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/06/2022 20:30

Is that not the plot of the three body problem by Cixin Liu?

LOL. 🤣 That’s one whacky novel. I couldn’t work out if I was too stupid to understand an underlying allegory or whether something got lost when it was translated into English. It was quite the ride.

I was thinking more of

We will arrive tomorrow between 7am and 9pm, please make sure someone is available to let us in

and then they don't turn up

Cornettoninja · 15/06/2022 21:16

I quite like the explanation that it’s too dangerous because there’s a type of religious person who simply couldn’t cope with the idea of aliens because it would disprove god (I don’t see how they couldn’t twist an explanation of extraterrestrial life into their doctrine - they do everything else).

plus we (an illustrative general ‘we’) collectively lost our shit in the great toilet roll shortage of 2020 and that was over a virus. Aliens would trigger something wild.

the film ‘Men In Black’ has one of the wisest lines I’ve ever heard in films. ‘They’ don’t just tell us about aliens because ‘a person is intelligent, people are stupid’.

Augend23 · 15/06/2022 21:24

I think the suggestion that the current government are actually aliens is one of the most sensible I've heard all week. If they were in fact slitheen their current choices wouldn't be so totally befuddling.

At this point they'd have to be really astonishingly war mongering aliens to make the future prospects of the planet any worse.

kagerou · 15/06/2022 21:37

@mumwon I think three body problem as mentioned above is the book you mean :)

Teachereducator · 15/06/2022 21:43

Oh good grief can you imagine...

"Take me to your leader"

"Errrm..."

2020 - covid
2021 - covid
2022 - Cost of living crisis, war in Europe, airport chaos and passport shambles
2023 -alien invasion

I’m off to drink gin.

😂😂😂liger the best comment I've ever seen on MN

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 15/06/2022 21:50

Back in 2018, I might have been a little shocked by the prospect of aliens ... but in 2022 my reaction is 'Meh, aliens - is that all you've got?'

I read several of the sequels but eventually they got too samey.

Didn't NASA say something about aliens last year???

Yes, there's lot going round at the moment about aliens, probably preparing us for what's to come
As Miranda Hobbes once said, 'let's just get it over with!'

TequilaSunriseforme · 16/06/2022 02:19

This thread is hilarious!

EmmaH2022 · 16/06/2022 02:28

I noticed the story appearing and then disappearing
wonder what that was about.

should we leave old glasses of water hanging around?!

avamiah · 16/06/2022 02:34

Yes it sounds Ridiculous but let’s be honest here China seems to get “It “and anything First .
Lets hope it is a joke .

Booklover3 · 16/06/2022 02:46

It was actually Boris Johnson umming and arrrghing while he pissed on everyone’s human rights.

PupInAPram · 16/06/2022 16:24

I've just got in from a rubbish day at work and read the whole thread. It's proper cheered me up. Next door arae probably wondering why I'm sitting in here on my own laughing my head off. I can only assume the unpaid intern at the giant telescope monitoring station has seen too many sci fi movies and found out the password to the Chinese News Agency twitter feed.
