Worried about hard swollen vein in arm after surgery

I had minor surgery 3 weeks ago and straight afterwards had a hard and painful vein in my arm where the canula was inserted. I mentioned it to the nurse at the time and she said it was phlebitis and nothing to worry about.

It's still there 3 weeks later and while I haven't been worried about it I stupidly googled and read that it is caused by a blood clot and can cause DVTs and pulmonary embolisms. Now I'm freaking out a bit. Do I need to see the GP? Part of me thinks I'm massively overreacting as the nurse wasn't concerned and it hasn't killed me in the last three weeks. The other part of me is panicking about blood clots/strokes/dying!

The vein is hard and painful in my hand where the canula was inserted and the vein is hard and bruised down to the elbow, where there is a solid pea sized lump in the vein which is sore if I press on it.

I have health anxiety but it has been really well controlled recently until today! Any advice from medics or anyone who's had the same experience?
