Shopping in Leeds for the day. Where should I visit?

I've never been to Leeds before and I'm going for the day soon. Can you recommend coffee shops, book shops & anything else worth seeing/visiting in the city centre, please. Are there many nice/good shops worth a visit? I'm looking for some new perfume & summer clothes.

I would always pop into Anthropologie while in Leeds because there isn't one in Manchester where I live and I really love a browse in the homewares and clothing. The Corn Exchange might be worth a look? And the Arcades are lovely too. I used to live in Leeds years ago but only visit occasionally now so I'm sure others will have better tips for you!

My DD lives in Leeds and took me shopping last time I was down. It was lovely but I could not tell you where I went! Lots of nice shops and bars is what I can tell you!

😄 Thank you both.

I went to an amazing Italian it was near the M and S the pizza was to die for.
The shopping arcade where anthropology is is beautiful there's a huge John Lewis and lots of other nice shops.
God I love Leeds.

Victoria Gate and the arcades are fabulous. There is a new modern shopping area with John Lewis, Cos etc

Briggate is the main thoroughfare with Harvey Nicks and Victoria gate to one side, and Trinity with Primark, H&M etc to the other side.

Kirkgate market is also worth meandering through - the home of the original M&S and a gorgeous building.

There's Harvey Nicks, John Lewis, the Trinity shopping centre, loads of pubs, cafes, restaurants. The Royal Armouries. Look for rooftop terraces if you want lunch in the sun, the Alchemist, Angelikas are just two I can name

There's a decent Waterstones too.

For coffee shops, the Tiled Hall cafe just inside Leeds Art gallery is beautiful. There's also a fab bookshop/art/design shop in the Corn Exchange called Colours may vary

For book shops head up to Headingley- fabulous charity shops and bookshops thanks to the University community.

I live in Leeds. It depends what sort of shops you like. Trinity shopping centre has most of the big high Street stores (M and S, Next, H and M, Primark etc), also a good area with lots of restaurants. The Victoria shopping centre has a big John Lewis and quite a few posh shops. Leeds has several victorian shopping arcades which are beautiful - Thornton Arcade and Queens Arcade have some interesting little shops and cafes. The Victoria Quarter is the biggest victorian arcade. It's beautiful! It has a Harvey Nichols and several other fancy shops (Vivien Westwood, Charbonell et Walker). The Corn Exchange is a beautiful building and has lots of little independent shops. It's a nice place to browse. The market is great - apparently the biggest market in Europe. It's where M and S started and you can still visit the original M and S market stall. Happy shopping!

Art Gallery and Henry Moore Institute too. On the Headrow.

If you could just hop on a bus (just 10 minutes) and have a cuppa with MIL she'll tell you where to shop. She still.mourns the demise of Reedmans.

The food hall in the market has some fantastic food stalls - Manjits Kitchen is a veggie curry stall and one of my favourites. There’s a sushi stall just outside the food hall in the aisle parallel to the back of the outside market

I think the shopping places have been covered by PPs
