The trains in Spain…

Wise mums of Spain - can you help with a boring train question please?
I am trying to book train tickets from Barcelona to Tarragona via the RNFE website.
The site appears to show numerous trains every day, but only about 4 are bookable online - is it normal that most tickets have to be booked at the station or am I trading their website totally wrong (quite possible, my Spanish is a best Rusty)

How far ahead are you trying to book? They limit ticket sales so the others may already be booked up.

Might they be booked out?

I doesn’t seem to matter when they are (I’ve done loads of dates) it just says something like not available electronically but in the station

I don’t think they would all be booked up - it’s loads of trains & some of the times you can’t buy are the ones that wouldn’t be popular

Are all the dates you’ve tried between now and October though? It’s a really busy summer for travel.

There are spaces on the same 4 trains everyday you look at, it’s unlikely the others are all fully booked but those 4 times are not every single day

There will be plenty of Regional trains when you can buy a ticket on the day. The Renfe site has (or used to have) two areas. One for long distance and one for regional (short distance)
