Can't believe how I've allowed myself to be stiched up like this!

So I decided that this year I was going to go and see some of the singers/bands that I like. So booked a few. I also decided I would have decent seats/place. Last Saturday we went to Kenwood house and saw Rag n Bone Man, three rows from the front great view (purchased from Ticketmaster reasonable markup totally acceptable) great concert fantastic evening.
This Saturday we are due to see Imagine Dragons at Milton Keynes Bowl (4 seats £600+ purchased from Viagogo) I have just downloaded the tickets their face value is £50 per ticket and they are Ticketmaster tickets!
I thought I was buying super seats.
The mark up from Viagogo has just made me feel stick to my stomach and I am trying very hard to understand how I allowed myself to be fleeced!

holy fuck!

Was the description of the seats misleading?

Bimblepops · 14/06/2022 17:06

Viagogo are outrageous. Having been similarly stitched by then a couple of years ago, I vowed to never buy through them again

Headshothelp · 14/06/2022 17:09

This is viagogo's usp I'm afraid. Total scum company that screws over people who enjoy the music.

Treat them like the trolls they are and don't feed

Shangrila · 14/06/2022 17:09

Viagogo are owned by Ticketmaster. So not only do they get the original money for the ticket +booking fees, they get it second time around with ridiculous mark up again with booking fees. I'm also not convinced they don't just skim numbers off the top and put them up for sale in Viagogo the moment they go on sale.

Its legal touting and I will never by tickets from them.

squareframe · 14/06/2022 17:19

Why would you buy from Viagogo? They are famous for being total scam artists who sell tickets for 3 x the asking price.

Irishfarmer · 14/06/2022 17:40

Crap but look go and enjoy the concert try not to let it cloud the whole experience.

Januarytoes · 14/06/2022 17:40

We were also scammed by them. It could have spoiled the evening but we just had to say that we would know next time and would tell everyone not to buy from them.

They put on their website "only 3 tickets left" or some such and you think you're lucky to get them. There was a timer counting down I remember and it makes you panic.
When we got to the venue it was half empty and we found we could have got tickets at the door Or ANYWHERE else for half the price.

Horrible. sorry OP

Next time try the official venue website first or the reseller they recommend.

To Everyone: Do not buy from Viagogo.

HazelBite · 14/06/2022 20:43

I am so embarassed that I've been so stupid and didn't realise, I was so excited that they were going to tour the UK and just went ahead with the purchase. I feel a right idiot.

On the flip side op you were happy to pay that and enjoy the music so just go and have a good time
then never use viagogo again!

limitededitionbarbie · 14/06/2022 21:12

Op I bought Lionel Ritchie tickets for £150 each. He's pulled out and now we are seeing chic. Tickets are half the price.

I didn't realise viagogo were absolute con artists either.

Hope you have a good time.

dudsville · 14/06/2022 21:16

I hope your embarrassment is short lived. The shame is all theirs. I hope you can go and have a wonderful time.

ZenNudist · 14/06/2022 21:23

Ah that's a shame. I do buy from viagogo but don't buy at a price I'm not prepared to pay. I'm going to make sure I check for tickets elsewhere first from now on. Consider your experience and broadcasting it to be a benefit to other mumsnetters and depriving via gogo of money in future.

Anyone- what is a better place to buy tickets?

SingleWhiteEmail · 14/06/2022 21:25

It’s your one chance to see an amazing band so just relish every minute, I’m jel .

skybluee · 14/06/2022 21:34

Look. It's done now. You didn't realise. You know now and it won't happen again. Make the most of it, go and enjoy your time there.

SD1978 · 14/06/2022 21:38

Stitched up by them a few years ago too- they come up near the top of google searches. Can't do anything but learn a lesson and pay attention to who you're booking through. That's the lesson I learned!

If it's for a sellout show, twickets is good.

beachbumlife · 17/06/2022 01:26

Viagogo are arseholes. Only buy from Twickets.

DesertCacti · 17/06/2022 01:32

I feel your pain! I got tickets from them for a gig in Hyde Park; they cost £350 for 2 tickets and the actual tickets were about £50 each. They were the first site that came up when I googled the concert and I assumed that the concert had sold out as a result. Was kicking myself! Of course I couldn't get a refund and my bank wouldn't give me a refund either (no reason why they should have, I just thought I would ask). Just try to enjoy your concert and chalk it up to experience ❤ this is obviously easier said than done but it was the only useful advice I got given! X
