What's up with my eyes? (Pics)

I pulled down my lower eyelid and there are areas where it looks like bleeding patches and pinprick dots (petechiae?).

I have no irritation, no allergic symptoms, no soreness. I have not rubbed them.

I do have a very weird period. Started about 4.5 weeks ago, just spotting, and it's been very, very heavy, for the last 18 days, so not sure if it's related somehow?

I've got some photos, but they don't show the contrast between the very red bits against the very pale background. In real life it actually looks like it's bleeding. Both eyes have it.

I’m sure I’ve read that if that bit is pale it indicates severe anaemia, which would be likely with that level of bleeding. Not sure about the red bits though!

Thank you, that bit is usually pale in me, I've just never had patches that look like bleeding in it (and it's very hard to photograph).

I've just realised I've got a few red patches on the inside of my mouth (especially around inner cheeks). This is as well as the tons of mouth ulcers I have (due to hormones probably).

Does anyone know what the red bits are?

No idea but heavy PV bleeding needs review I think. And then can mention this and the cheeks too.

Get some blood tests done including iron and B12 etc

buggeringbuggery · 11/06/2022 20:12

Thank you all. I've tried to speak to the GP, but could only talk to a nurse, who said it was probably menopause related (long, heavy period - didn't have red spots in eyelid then). I asked about anaemia, but was told that if I don't look pale or feel faint, then I'm probably not.

I'd ask for a second opinion. I think at the very least, a blood test would definitely rule it in or out of the reasons why your eyes are like that.

As you mentioned your period has been very heavy, this can bring on anaemia and someone talking to you wouldn't be able to diagnose that.

Also agree with asking for blood tests to check B12 levels, hormone levels and actually a full blood work-up would certainly give you a better idea of what is happening right now.

I was severely anaemic without fainting or looking noticeably paler, that's rubbish and very irresponsible of her to share medical advice she's just made up.
Sorry, don't know about the red bits .
