How long did it take your dc to feel better? Ds is on day 3 of antibiotics and he's getting worse not better.

Wrong type of antibiotics. They should have started working in 24 hourse. Go back to GP for a different type.

He's got penicillin. His temperature hasn't come down with calpol either.

They should have started working. I've never known so many people with it at the minute
Penicillin didn't work for me last week and I ended up on clarithromycin

His neck is swollen below his ear too and he's so lethargic although he's barely eaten since Tuesday so I'm not surprised. Temp 38.5. Poor bairn.

He has an ear infection on top and they have swapped his antibiotics. If no improvement by Sunday then to take him back again.

Sorry to hear they are having a tough time, might be viral, hence no improvement despite antibiotics.

AlternativelyWired · 11/06/2022 13:58

There's pus on his tonsils so definitely bacterial.

Don’t wait until tomorrow, you already know the antibiotics are not working.

Call 111 and see what the dr says today.

MajorCarolDanvers · 11/06/2022 14:17

I always notice a difference within 8 hours and huge difference within 24 hours.

3 days is too long. Get back into GP

AlternativelyWired · 12/06/2022 14:57

He's feeling better today and spent the night sweating buckets but has more pus on his tonsils than before and still has a fever. His tummy is what hurts the most though.

Ds has tonsillitis at the moment. He has 10 days of penicillin. He started to feel better day 5 (Friday). Today, he is vomiting everywhere.

Mumsfavourite · 09/07/2022 01:02

My daughter has been prescribed 10days of penicillin V on day 3 and she is abit better but still getting a high temperature. Hopefully next few days they really start to kick in.
goodluck

Penicillin is often ineffective as the bacteria have become immune to it. Try another one.

I genuinely think that after a couple of doses you start feeling better! Speak to Dr tomorrow!
