Idle creep in automatic car

New driver totally clueless

The past automatics I've drove have creeped slightly when I reverse.

I recently got a semiauto 208 peurgot 2014 and it's completely static in reverse unless I accelerate.

Issue or
normal ? Do some cars don't creep.

I need to go back the dealership anyway due to warning lights🤦‍♀️ But thought I’d ask here as I don’t have anyone else really.

I think they vary by model. Our previous automatic (Ford Focus) noticeably creeped but our current doesn't move unless you press the pedal. Took a while to get used to it but isn't a fault, as far as I know.

Probably to do with how high the revs are in idle. Some cars will have a higher idle rev count than others.

Do you have the auto hold on? In my car (VW) there's a button that says auto hold and when it's on it doesn't creep in reverse or going forward.

I think that is normal in Peugeot in remember being surprised as well. My ford has a creep

LimesandClementines · 11/06/2022 12:06

I also find it varies, my last car was a Toyota CHR and that had a creep but I've now got a Hyundai which doesn't creep at all.

I've had quite a few automatic cars, some creep and some don't. My current car doesn't creep. This is my first plug-in hybrid and I'm not sure whether that makes a difference to ability to creep or not.

@Willdoitlater 😂 that really made me laugh, I had to re look at the title though👍

Mossstitch · 11/06/2022 12:36

I've got 25 year old automatic which creeps forwards but not in reverse, it does make Hill starts very easy, I thought that's what it was for🤔😂
