Things to do around Archway, London

I am in London for the weekend, working, but teen DC coming along for the ride. I have a very broken working day on Sunday with 9-10 then 1-3 then 4.30-8pm events near to Archway tube and wondered if anyone knew anything interesting to do or somewhere to go inbetween?
We live on a farm and do a lot of walking so city/cultural excitement rather than a walk in one of Londons many fabulous parks if possible?
Many thanks :)

Was going to suggest Highgate Cemetery, then I got to the 'city/cultural' preference. It is sort of cultural - lots of famous people buried there.

From Archway you could hop on the Tube down to Euston and go in the British Library. There's always at least one free exhibition, shop, cafes.

If the teen dc are old enough to go off on their own, they might like to spend time in the afternoon when you're working at Forbidden Planet, nearest Tube Tottenham Court Road. Also Foyle's Bookshop nearby in Charing X Road.

Aechway is near HIghgate Village and cemetery so both of those for starters.

Also very near to Hampstead, so Jack Straw's Castle, Hampstead Heath and Village.

You could also go to Muswell Hill, Alexandra Palace (it's an exhibtion centre type of place, in a huge park). www.alexandrapalace.com/

Brent Cross for shopping is fairly nearby (I didn't think it was that great though!).

Archway is on the Northern line so you're very close to lots of places like Camden Town (market), museums in South Ken, Southbank etc.

You could quite easily give kids a travel card and send them off without you, they should be fine.

They could book for the Harry Potter experience if that's their thing at King's Cross.

Go to Camden market. It's just down the road. About as far away from a farm as you can get

Go Ape is at Ally Pally (Alexandra Palace).

If it were me, I'd personally send them to Southbank - they can then do all the stuff like Namco centre (interactive stuff, computer games etc) and also watch/do skateboarding, lounge around, people watch etc.

sorry the Namco closed down in London last year!
