Does anyone else make playlists for long drives based on all your parents' music?

Just because I invariably associate Elton John and Tears For Fears tapes with looooong drives to my grandparents' house in Wales as a child and therefore they are essential driving music to me.

Anyone else? What is on your long journey playlist?

DH and I drove many miles around Australia with pretty much just an Elton John and a Queen tape. Perfect driving music.

FuncaMunca · 09/06/2022 22:49

Yep! Cat Stevens, John Denver and CCR all the way

Yes! A lot of Mary J Blige and early 90s RnB (minus anything too sexual) went straight into my road trip playlist before I even though lt about anything current.

My poor kids lol.

Herman's Hermits and the Shadows mean long drives to and from Cleethorpes!

Some very young people here.

My parent's?

Vera Lynn, Four Tops. Both mono recordings.

My dad used to make a "holiday" tape for our annual family road/ferry trip to the Hebrides. The songs I remember best were by:

The Beatles
Dire Straits
Billy Joel
George Michael
Sade
Deacon Blue
The Rolling Stones
Jimmy Hendrix
Don McLean
Snowy White

I bet my dad still has them all in his loft, I'd love to dig them out and make a Spotify list of them Smile

I loved War of the Worlds! Listening to it scared the shit out of me Grin
Amazing album art work too

Don McLean
Chris DeBerg
Carpenters
Nat King Cole
Crystal Gayle

I do have some Don McLean in my playlists.

My playlists tend to be rather eclectic. So is my DC's taste judging by their requests. John Kettley is a Weatherman is a current favourite 😂
I'm very proud of them!

We regularly travel up from Bristol to Fort William. We have to have
The Proclaimers.
Meatloaf (Bat out of Hell is for the Glencoe bit).

That's the rules in the Toasty-Mobile.
