Holiday with newborn

We are going on holiday to Portugal in a month with our newborn DS. He will be just over 2 months old. I think I am about there with essentials to pack, but can anyone advise on what I may have forgotten?

Aside from the standard clothes, sun hats, nappies, bottles, formula (which is being ordered and collected at the airport once we are through security), I've also got sterilising bags, sun cream (though won't be in the sun much with such a wee one). I've ordered a lightweight apron for the carry cot, a parasol for the pram. Calpol, gripe water, saline nasal spray.

Will we need a bug net for the evenings?

What the bloody hell do you do about swimsuits for little ones, are there waterproof nappies? (Can you tell I'm a FTM?!)

Anything else I need to panic order?

Make sure to investigate where u need to go if your baby needs medical attention just in case. Location, cost and translation will give u peace of mind.
Fingers crossed u won't need it but it will be something ud be grateful to have on hand.

Really valid, and that has also just reminded me to sort travel insurance!

We took car seat and it wasn’t damaged at all in the hold. I found parasols useless for the pram, you have to be walking in a certain direction for them to work. We used a breathable muslin lightly pegged, but have just bought a snoozeshade. It’s a great time to take them, they’re so portable, especially on the plane. Found ours at 10m more challenging as they wanted to climb everything!! Also they’ll sleep a lot when you have dinner out etc - make the most of it. We have a 1yr old now and tend to do days out, then head back to the villa for dinner as it’s easier. Have. Great time! Also, if you’re going to Spain, bring back a lot of their baby paracetamol, it’s so much better than calpol!!
