My hen came back and other reasons to celebrate

We are having quite a time of things at home. Troubles with a suicidal teen, troubles at work and lots and lots of other low level stress.

My favourite hen had to be put to sleep last week and I was really sad. We bought 2 new point of lays home a few days later and one flew away that evening (I hadn't gotten to clipping her wing). For some reason it just floored me. I felt so beaten.

She just randomly turned up - which is quite a miracle given the number of predators around. God bless that hen for turning my frown upside down. I have given her a massive cuddle, checked she wasn't hurt and then felt really happy to know she was well and that the universe is not totally against me. She enjoyed some grated cheese and a drink of water.

What's your random bit of positivity this week?

Well done little hen for getting home!

Oh my. Yay hen.

Sorry to hear things are tough OP.

Sounds mad but I have been loving being on some of the threads on MN!

(Very happy to hear about your hen :) )

Oh I am glad she came back. We rehomed the last of our flock recently, we don’t want any more at the moment and it seemed mean to leave her as an only. I am now struggling with throwing out food scraps, we haven’t done that in ten years. Hope other things get better for you soon x

Oh thank you all. She is a dear little thing - just 16 weeks old. I think the thought of her being lonely and afraid just saw the better of my meagre resilience.

I am usually pretty glass half full though 🐓😎

That's lovely news! Things are OK here at the moment but it's been a very rocky year. My small celebration for today is that I'm on my exercise bike already (I've been up for a while, DS wakes up at 4/5 am most days 😭). I neeeeeeed to do more exercise 😴

Do you have any pictures of your hens?? I'm mad about animals!

I am also going through the mill whilst recovering from ankle surgery.

Yesterday I managed a whole shower stood up. For the past five weeks I’ve had to shower sat down on a stool with a condom giant plastic cast protector on. The freedom felt amazing.

So glad your hen came back

I can't think of much but glad to hear about your hen!

Happy to say that the week has improved. Just had a lovely dinner with friends. Funny how some days are just shit.
