Today's is a very strange one, I can't seem to see any link between the red words and the answer, whereas words that I think are close synonyms are cold. Sorry this isn't very helpful for those asking for clues, but I'm not sure how to give a hint based on any of your red words. I would never have got it without the "rhymes with" clue.
