Has anyone made a complaint to the police?
How long did it take to get a response?

Depends what you mean. I reported an incident on the Met’s chat function. Gave all the details and asked for an officer to come to my home so I could speak to them in person. They made an appointment.

KangarooKenny · 06/06/2022 07:27

Are you complaining about the police, or reporting an incident ?

purpleme12 · 06/06/2022 07:35

I'm talking about making a complaint as per the title

You should get an acknowledgement in a week or so, then they'll assess it. It depends on the seriousness and/or complexity of the allegation, you may just get a call within a few days to try to sort it out, or a written acknowledgement then be contacted in the method of your choosing to work through what the issues are before an investigation.

ReachersAbs · 06/06/2022 07:58

Do you mean a complaint about the police or to the police? Your title isn’t clear

About who? The police or someone else?

saltnvinegarlover · 06/06/2022 08:01

Yep your title is unclear whether about the actual police or not?

Ok
I'm so impatient I just want to hear back and know someone's looking at it

OP if you’ve made a complaint to the police, about the police, you should get an acknowledgment of some kind.
Either a phone call to say we have it or an email or letter.
i don’t work for the police but most organisations have a deadline to respond - often 28 days or sometimes 60 days if it’s a more complex complaint.

Who would wanna help you with that attitude. Your title doesn't make it clear at all if you're complaining TO the police or ABOUT the police. There's a big difference 🙄

Greatoutdoors · 06/06/2022 08:08

I still can’t figure out who the complaint is about?

But the title isn't clear. A complaint TO the police, or ABOUT them?

NorthernChinchilla · 06/06/2022 08:11

Also different Forces have different ways of initial handling/triaging which will affect who contacts you and when, but if you've not heard in 5 working days then send a chaser.

ApolloandDaphne · 06/06/2022 08:12

I'm not certain who the complaint is about either. Are you complaining about the police or complaining to the police about someone else?

jubileetrain · 06/06/2022 08:13

Yea we can see you want to complain to the police, not who do you want to complain about?

jubileetrain · 06/06/2022 08:14

*yes.

jubileetrain · 06/06/2022 08:14

And *now who...

CrossStichQueen · 06/06/2022 08:17

This seems very familiar. There is a poster who asks regularly how to complain about the police, GP, hospital, paramedics it never goes anywhere.

Lol I haven't made a complaint about anyone else.
To my detriment, my complaint to the police is not going to make a difference to our particular situation but I feel it still makes a difference to log a complaint so it's all noted and people will learn from it gote the future
