I’ve been Invited to a party, where everyone is expected to wear a music themed fancy dress outfit. It’s very unlikely I’ll wear the outfit again so really keen to avoid spending too much. Please inspire me with cheap costume ideas.

Any genre of music? Wear overalls and stick some farm animal toys? Old Mcdonald had a farm? Or more big white dress and be Kate Bush in Wuthering Heights?

We have similar next week bought black jeans and a tshirt with guitar that can be reused
Then spent £10 on inflatable guitar, bandana, studded black gloves as "costime"

Loads of Union Jack stuff around. Could you deck yourself out on it and go as the National Anthem.

Dress up as member of kiss with the face paint?
punk with some old denim etc
if there’s two of you going dress up as the blues brothers

Just a music theme is a little bit vague
You could literally wear anything; t-shirt and jeans = Ed Sheeran, long dress = Adele, swimming costume = the baywatch theme tune, pyjamas = a lullaby 🤷🏻‍♀️

White dress with black horizontal stripes...music score

Love the pyjamas rest idea!

Paper boiler suit from b and q/ Poundland.
Trainers. Whistle on a string round your neck.

KLF.

A white top and a plastic snake wrapped around your neck. Whitesnake.

ScootsMcHoy · 05/06/2022 21:56

What have you got already? Or what do you want to wear to it?

I'd start there and then tie the theme in.

Stick a plaster on your head - band aid. Cheapest fancy dress ever!

I’d get a piece of black card,A0 if possible, and cut out a crochet shape, attach straps made out of string and wear it like a back to front rucsac.

That’s a good idea, thank you!

I'd start there and then tie the theme in.

Just ‘normal’ clothes, jeans, long dresses etc. I don’t have a fancy dress box.

Put a box on your head (with a hole for your face), draw notes on it and say you've come as a musical box....
