Can I wear this to a wedding

Hello,

I've got a wedding to go to on Friday, small wedding around 40 people. Catholic church and hotel reception.

Not the best picture as I've just got out the shower but is it to casual for a wedding. I don't like any of the dresses I've ordered so now I'm a bit stuck.

Can I wear this to a wedding

Yes, why not?

It's lovely and perfect.

RandomQuest · 05/06/2022 09:19

Nice dress, it’s definitely fine for a wedding!

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 05/06/2022 09:19

Perfect for a wedding and not too casual at all

Albgo · 05/06/2022 09:20

I really like it - where's it from?

Intrigueddotcom · 05/06/2022 09:20

Go for it

Rainbowqueeen · 05/06/2022 09:22

As long as you have a jacket to cover your shoulders I think it’s fine

Gingermoth · 05/06/2022 09:23

Looks lovely on you . I would cover arms in the church though. I'm not an old fuddy duddy but I was always taught to cover arms in church by my Granny.

Motherofmonsters · 05/06/2022 09:23

Ah brilliant thank you. It's been in my wardrobe for ages and I wear it quite a bit for functions. I thought it might not be fancy enough but glad it looks fine to wear!

Yes, shoulders do need to be covered in a Catholic Church but the dress is lovely.

Shoulders don't NEED to be covered in a Catholic church. But you might well feel more appropriate and warmer with a jacket or cardy. You would be admitted without one though.

She’d be “admitted” if she turned up to a church in shorts and a t shirt.

too bloody right. God doesn’t care I’m pretty sure

Oh don’t be daft
where on earth does it stipulate this (other than in your imagination)

Intrigueddotcom · 05/06/2022 10:42

My cousin in her early twenties turned up to family wedding in a mini dress showing shoulders AND a load of dress (gasp!)

she looked lovely and no one in my lovely family batted an eye

Intrigueddotcom · 05/06/2022 10:43

oh and needless to say - nor did the priest!!

almondflake · 05/06/2022 11:24

Lovely dress, I'd definitely wear a jacket over the top just to pull the look together and because it will probably be cold in the church this time of year .
You're going to look lovely 😊

Namechanger355 · 05/06/2022 11:25

Looks really lovely and formal.
regardless of what people here say is the right or wrong thing to do - probably best to err on the side of caution and cover up in the church

Clarich007 · 05/06/2022 12:36

Very pretty dress perfect for a wedding. Hope you have a lovely day

MiaGain · 05/06/2022 12:41

Looks fine to me. I would wear a smart jacket or a throw of some sort round your shoulders for the church part.

FantaLover · 05/06/2022 12:44

You won't need to cover your shoulders in the church - if that were the case how would all the bride's in the ubiquitous strapless dresses be allowed in?

You might want to bring a jacket or cardigan through as churches can be very chilly

Kanta · 05/06/2022 15:02

It's a pretty dress. You could make it more elegant for the wedding if you had a black sequin shawl or something to wrap around your shoulders. And then toss it off for the reception. 😊
