Getting there
it is really well located for public transport.

Pudding Mill station is directly outside, but we walked from Stratford which is better connected for us from Waterloo.

It’s only a 20 minute walk along pathways links to the Olympic site I’ll be absolutely fine unless it’s pouring down with rain

Drinking and Eating before
if you want a proper meal pasta go to one of the mini chain restaurants at Westfield and then walk from there.

There is very little outside although there is some street food inside, but I didn’t see that.

Outside there is a pop-up box park type thing with called snoozebox which has got loads of atmosphere and some really tasty Indian street food. Drinks in there also a lot cheaper than inside the little mini foyer outside the Area where wine us £25 and beers £6. They will also give you tap water. The arena sells refillable Abba merch water bottles pictured.

the arena
outside in the foyer everybody is very up for it! You’ll be overcome by the joy of the whole experience. The arena is pop-up and the foyer shows, in the winter it might get quite windy but in the summer it was lovely. Hang around there to soak up the atmosphere. The staff are lovely and the cloakroom is free, but watch out for long queues afterwards to get that so take as little as you can. If you have got dancefloor seat you need to travel pretty light. Security is fast.

seating
unless you have an infirmity GET DANCEFLOOR TICKETS. There’s loads of room and great aircon. The chair people only stood up for the odd song. When we arrived in there about 20 minutes before the show lots of people are sitting on the floor in the dance floor seating finishing drinks and stuff but they soon got up as the vibe increased.

the show
They are rightly strict about phone use, and I saw very little of it. The show will freak you out because it’s so brilliant and even after which are not quite sure what you saw

It’s flawless technically and there is a live band . The lighting is alone is worth a ticket price.
it lasts 90 minutes. There are two sequences where is animations rather than abbatars and in theory you can get drinks then it will be hard to get back if you’re on the Dancefloor seating

afterwards
long queues for the Loos outside but go around the corner to the loos away from the cloakroom. Cloakroom queues were long but moved fast. Merch is ££ but available. then if you’re in a party mood you must go to the Snoozebox. This made our day. Really like being at the best wedding party ever. The staff there said it’s like it EVERY day. Dancing. Singing and laughs.

i think that’s it.

Excellent post, many thanks.
Going tonight for my girlfriends surprise birthday treat, she's a huge ABBA fan🎵🕺💃🎵😁

We went a couple of weeks ago and it was absolutely fabulous! Quite a few people dressed up but also plenty who don’t. We just did coloured feather boas and inflatable microphones which made it fun. The staff at Pizza Express in the shopping centre were fabulous - singing with us, taking photos for us etc. We took water bottles into the arena which we filled up at the water fountains.

Thanks for this thread, very helpful. Looking forward to our booking in November.

Does anyone have any feedback on the VIP area? I bought the additional very expensive tickets to make it extra special expecting it to be as originally advertised. They have now changed the food on offer, opening times etc and halved the ticket price to reflect the changes.
Just wondering if the early entry, inclusive drinks, ‘free’ water bottle and very reduced food offering (antipasti, charcuterie and cheese - not great for a vegan) are still worth the £100 per ticket they’ve reduced it too…?

Interested in this thread?

I went a couple of weeks ago as a family member had a spare ticket. I don't think I've danced to an abba song in 20-years but I really really enjoyed it

I’m really interested that they have reduced this because when I went there was nobody in the advanced lounge area, can’t remember what they called it. To be honest I’m not sure it really is worth it, the show is the show from whatever this do you see it

travailtotravel · 27/08/2022 08:52

I was there on Monday night in the lounge for £100. Given it was something like 47 fir a bottle of prosecco in the event bar, my strategy was to drink up, eat a lot of cold meats and they came round with cakes. Was it worth it to swing past the queue- not on a Monday night, perhaps weekend and matinées. Otherwise no. Advice fir veggie/vegans - email ahead and ask. My mate dud, had a reply that said they'd be able to sort something. Key is to have that in writing as the poor chap in the lounge had no idea - this is just it, he said. When presented with the email, he trotted off and bought back a massive vegan hot dog. Not elegant but actually delish.

I'd probably just buy a hot dog and a couple of pints.

Queue fir ladies and cloakroom both ridiculous.

Cod · 27/08/2022 15:53

That’s interesting, back in the early summer it was definitely about £150. The q sfor the toilets are less if you go the other side of the exit out of the auditorium

namechangedyetagain · 03/09/2022 16:28

I'm thinking of taking my mum for Christmas so also doing a little shopping and seeing the lights.

Was thinking about staying overnight. Where would be best? Stratford? Would an afternoon or evening performance be better?

It's really expensive (for me) so want to get it right and I'm feeling so indecisive. I think we could be in London by 11am on the first day.

She uses a walking stick, would she be ok in the dance floor area?

TIA

Cod · 03/09/2022 17:38

I think that’s a lot to fit into one day

your mum will be knackered!

namechangedyetagain · 03/09/2022 18:17

Sorry that will be including an overnight stay so m ABBA one day (sat) and lights / shops on Sunday. Meal somewhere too

Still too much to fit in? I don't know how long the ABBA thing will take and if it's better as an evening or afternoon thing?

VanCleefArpels · 03/09/2022 21:17

Having been I really don’t think the dance floor would be comfortable for your Mum - it looked extremely crammed, people really shoulder to shoulder, no dancing going on really. A seat would be far more comfortable especially after a busy day. Stratford or Canary Wharf both handy places to stay

Cod · 03/09/2022 22:39

Agree for mum not dance floor.
Can confirm I danced.

ChorltonCreamery · 04/09/2022 00:40

Can you still get up and dance in seared area?

VanCleefArpels · 04/09/2022 05:01

Yes we did!

chocolateisavegetable · 04/09/2022 11:18

I wouldn’t recommend the dance floor for someone with a walking stick. We had seats and sat for the slower songs but were up like a shot when the likes of Dancing Queen, Waterloo etc we’re on. Personally I would take her to the afternoon show, have dinner after and get to bed at a reasonable time

namechangedyetagain · 04/09/2022 14:04

Thank you. Just looking at tickets now, are there any seated areas with obstructed views or are you ok wherever you sit?

She's actually a lot more lively than me, I'm the one that will need to be tucked up in bed by 9😁

chocolateisavegetable · 04/09/2022 16:52

I didn’t notice anywhere with a restricted view

VanCleefArpels · 04/09/2022 17:04

It’s a purpose built arena so no bad views

namechangedyetagain · 04/09/2022 20:05

Fab. We are going through an awful time as a family (bereavement, recent life changing illness diagnosis) so im hoping it will be a nice early Christmas present and something to look forward to.

chocolateisavegetable · 04/09/2022 21:22

Very sorry to hear that. The show is amazing (assuming you vaguely like ABBA obviously. The technology is mind-blowing, it’s a good venue and everyone there is in the mood for a great time. Only issue for us was going on one of the hottest days on record and the aircon couldn’t quite cope, but other than that, we utterly loved it

Annexlife · 22/11/2022 19:16

Could anyone recommend a ticket type if I'm going with a 10 year old. I'd love to do the dance floor but I'm worried she will get a bit crushed and won't be able to see anything vs a seat, and being stuck sat down when we all want to dance! Thoughts please!

VanCleefArpels · 22/11/2022 19:24

Definitely a seat - the dance floor really is shoulder to shoulder, a small person would feel very uncomfortable I think. And we did get up and dance in the seats when I went!

Cod · 22/11/2022 19:34

Oh I want to go again now
bet it’s quite different in winter.

were the clock room qs bad ?

Cod · 22/11/2022 19:34

Cloak!!

mondaytosunday · 22/11/2022 20:12

Dance floor was packed in like sardines - plus I think you get a better view from slightly above.
No queue at the toilets - there are plenty. Minimal queue for drinks too.
Staff friendly but they are REALLY strict about taking photos or filming - one woman caught twice within a minute of taking out her phone.
And wow has CGI become super realistic! Shout out to the lighting designers - it wouldn't work without them.
