And how old are you? I do, and have loads of CDs, many from my youth, that icant bring myself to part with. I know i could listen to the same music online, but I feel like I'd forget if didn't see the actual CD, abd that they're a big part of my history/life.

We have a DVD player and until last move a vhs player too. All those old kids movies lasted much longer on tape than on dvd. My kids are teens now and I'm 60. I still have a CD player. I do not have Spotify or Alexa.

I do and it's pretty new too, got it for my birthday last August when my old one packed up, I'm 55!

Yes, Robert’s radio/cd player, sometimes I just want to listen to an Eagles album start to finish, no ads, no headphones (we are rural, nearest neighbour is a mile away). 55

We have a CD player and a turntable (as well as a DVD player and a VHS player).

I also still buy new CDs and (less often) DVDs. I'm in my early 60s.

I do have a stereo but in the 7 years since moving, I think it was only used to see if it worked. I'm 33

IstayedForTheFeminism · 05/06/2022 07:52

Nope. We use Spotify and Alexa here. I chucked out the last cd player when it broke and then got rid of all the cds too.

We do have a dvd player and a cupboard full of dvds that we never watch though. I just can't bring myself to part with them.

Yes, I have a cd/radio unit in the kitchen, and about 300 cds. It can Bluetooth to my phone as well so not ancient, but I like music while I cook. Cds are quick & don't take any though, while I'm concentrating on food.
I'm 50s

Yes, one of those stereo radio boomboxes but mainly DH uses it in the garage and shed, wifi doesn't work in there, we have loads of CDs, I play mine in the car as it is easier than using the phone which is in my bag, we are both early 60s. In the house as we subscribe to Apple Music we use HomePod downstairs and Alexa Dots upstairs

ginghamstarfish · 05/06/2022 08:07

Yes, and cassettes too ... Never used Spotify etc, but I do have all my music copied to my pc and can use on phone, with other speakers.

User487216 · 05/06/2022 08:14

I also bought a new DVD player recently as not everything is on Netflix etc and still buy DVDs, mainly second hand from eBay or Amazon.

The old music systems of the 70s and 80s did give a much better musical experience, HomePod is quite good but to be perfectly honest listening on the cheap Alexa things is a bit like an old tinny radio for quality of sound.

Norgie · 05/06/2022 08:57

Yes. I still have my stack system from the 80s, which has a turntable as well as cassette player, radio and CD player.
I still have all my vinyls and cassettes too.
It's got a bass that shakes the foundations.
I listen to it most days and I'd never get rid of it.

Dougieowner · 05/06/2022 09:02

50's and still play CD's and DVD's, I don't stream.

User280905 · 05/06/2022 09:05

Nope. A friend brought round a cd of her son's band recently and we had absolutely nothing to play it on. Not even a cd player in the car.

StickyFingeredWeeNed · 05/06/2022 09:07

Yes, a CD player in the living room and the car. I love listening from start to finish, without ads and without a fucking algorithm deciding what I’d like to hear next. All my CDs bring such memories and feelings.

life’s too short to create playlists.

most of my music was purchased pre-2001 - bar Miley and The Weeknd.

im touching 50.
